AMT '32 Ford Vicky

Post by Vincent Power »

I recently finished the building phase of my single axle trailer and in a moment of madness, I looked in the stash to see what I could put on it. Unfortunately for me, looking in my stash usually means I get interested in another subject and the original project gets shelved while I spend time researching the new exciting kit!

This time, I happened to pull out the AMT Ford Victoria, affectionately known as the Vicky. I bought it originally for the body style and the fact it could be built in one of three ways. More options always appeal to me. Here is the attractive retro style box top.

The kit is very old and is afflicted with lots of flash and softly moulded parts. I decided to clean up some of the worst affected parts, just to see what they looked like of course. ;)

Before I knew it, I had chopped the top...........

and got all this done........

Then life took over for a while and the Vicky sat idle. When I got back into it again I neglected to take lots of in progress pics. Thankfully, I remembered today. This is where I'm up to.
First, the body has been painted. Notice the ribs on the roof. The purists may scoff at the way I've depicted this but I'm pretty sure I've seen one like it in a photo somewhere on the web....maybe.....? Anyway, I like it.

I mocked up the engine on the chassis. The distinct lack of "extras" in the driving room is because the chopped roof makes it impossible to see anything anyway.

The exhausts are scratch built too. I wanted something a little extreme.
That's pretty much where I am right now. I should be able to finish it up reasonably quickly then get back to painting and finishing the trailer before getting back to finishing off the 29 Ford pick up. (Phew! that's a lot of getting back and finishing.)

Thanks for looking.

Oh, nice and really something different there Vincent!

I really like the customized exhausts - as if this vehicle wasn't orky enough already!

Thank Raoul, I'm glad you like it. It should end up being suitably different than other versions of this kit. ;)

Cheers

I'm all done on the Vicky. I'm surprised how quickly this one went together. It was fun that's for sure. :D
