Zvezda MSTA-S or 2S19

Post by Olivier Carneau »

Hi all,
I decided to open one of my Christmas gifts. It is the Russian SPG 2S19 or MSTA-S by Zvezda. It has tons of parts and features a great level of detail.

In a couple of days I managed to assemble the hull and start the turret. The lows of this kit are the nylon mesh for the engine grilles and the thread representing the tow cables. I used some Aber mesh and some spare mesh for the grilles and I had a Eureka set of cables which were the perfect solution.

Here are some pictures after one day of hard work

Have to agree with Philipp,

That is a serious level of detail for a newer Zvezda kit :D

They really are challenging the "big boys"

Great work Olivier :D

Nice work, Olivier.

Is that a KPV machine gun?

I agree Zvezda have made a step forward if not a leap.

Steve, the MG is a Kord 12,7 mm HMG. It is the replacement of the well-known NSVT MG.

I paired the turret and the hull just to have an idea of the final size, that's huge! The turret itself measures 30 cm long from the gun muzzle to the rear wall.

Still have a myriad of parts to add before I can call the assembly done.

Among those numerous things I had to add, I tackeld the rear loading system. It includes 38 parts :o

The rest of the assembly should be a piece of cake :)

Hi all
the assembly is over. The outer roadwheels and the skirts will be added after the painting.
