Self-made Autumn Leaves
A disclaimer first, I didn't invent this technique. I read about it somewhere, but I really can't remember where...
Anyhow, I thought maybe someone might find this useful
There is a wide selection of aftermarket leaves available for diorama purposes, but sadly most of these have kilo prices higher than weapons-grade plutonium or CEO-grade cocaine....
For a low cost alternative, you need this: A standard issue leaf in a colour of choice and fancy pattern scissors from the art shop (overall cost about 2 Euros):
Chop off one end of the leaf and you get the first half of the pattern:
Then turn the leaf around and carefully align with the pattern on the other side, then cut:
You will end up with this:
Not quite the same detail level as laser-cut leaves but if you're about to cover half your diorama with them, it won't really matter. Except for your hobby budget

Love it! All I need to do now is find a place which sells the dried leaves.

Thanks gents!
Gary, here's an idea: I sell the scissors and a few dried leaves as a do it yourself starter kit for, let's say, 15 euros.

Loved this idea so much, I took a look through the paper crafting aisle at the local Hobby Lobby.
For the grand total of $4.32 I bought a snowflake cutter.
