Master Box - An old raider

I finally got around to getting something done for this important GB. I thought long and hard about what to build and eventually decided on this 1/35 figure from Master Box. I think the artwork is very evocative.

Construction was quite straightforward and only a little adjustment was required to fit the head inside the hood of the jacket. Then I gave it a coat of black primer with a white coat sprayed from above to highlight where the shadows will be.

I haven't painted a figure for a while and when I got into the flow I forgot to take progress pics. Sorry about that. I used Vallejo acrylics mostly.

I made a simple base and painted it up using Tamiya acrylics for the basic earth and dust colours. The rubble and bricks were done with oils and Ammo pigments to finish off.

All that was left was to attach the figure to the base and give him a dusty look with some pigments to tie him into the overall finish.

I'm happy with how he turned out and I think I'll paint some more figures in the future. It's a steep learning curve that's for sure.

Nice choice and fantastic work Vincent!

I've heard about the airbrush highlights method, seems like I finally need to try it It certainly gave you nice results!

Definitely give it a try. Next time I would use a light gray instead of white for the highlights. I think it's too stark a difference once the base coat goes on.
