Heller 1/72 J21A

Post by Matt Parvis »

Here is my entry for this little lark:

Image

As I said in the other thread, this was part of a raffle win at a model show, so, while I can't give a specific amount for what I paid, it can be found on ebay within the price range we are working with here.

I haven't opened it yet so I've no idea what I am getting into, although online reviews I saw were positive. I do love this about the kit:

How man parts? Eh! Who cares! We'll just approximate it!

..Sometimes you get "extra" parts once the box has been shaken/crushed/dropped and one part becomes two. Maybe Heller was preempting that.... :D

What a curious looking bird! If memory serves me right, they were later upgraded by putting a jet engine in the back...

Philipp, that is correct. Shawn, what can I say, guilty as charged. Adam, no parts broken, but I didn't count how many I used so "approximately" isn't a bad count after all!

Construction for this is done. The kit had raised panel lines so I ended up rescribing it. It was pretty easy and I didn't fuss about wobbly lines and mistakes too much, so it went quick.

Anyway, here is where it sits currently:

The kit went together pretty well without much filler needed. The exception was around the nacelles but even that wan't bad.

Come on Matt, you can't just show us a perfectly finished aircraft and leave us plane noobs wondering what kind of witchcraft went into this :P

Fini.

It's done and I am happy to have finished it rather then it sitting in my closet for untold number of years. Certainly not my best effort, but, if I had gotten bogged down in fixing some of the issues (The canopy fit in particular.) I wouldn't have finished it. So here we are:

Overall it was a fun little project.

Nice build Matt, the colour scheme with the big Swedish national markings is very appealing compared to our usual armour builds :D

That is a cracker Matt

Looks cool and fixing the little niggles isn't necessary, its part of the deal

Well done
