Thank you for looking. Yes the front clamps give it a special look.
Today I assembled the launcher which could be fully moveable if you replaced the plastic cables at the rear by some solder wire.
With the launcher on the vehicle this begins to be an impressive model.

It’s a big kit Olivier, the more I see of your build the more I’m glad I didn’t start it, my attention span is not long enough :D

Quick work, rockets next?

Adam,
it's rocket day today :D
Give it a try! It is worth it.

Trumpeter managed to cast the body as a single part. So you just have to add the various fins and the four boosters for each missile.
I did a dry test fit of the missiles on the launcher and it was not straightforward. I think I goofed something with the supports during the launcher assembly. The missiles will be painted a light grey with some parts silver. Unfortunately Trumpeter gives wrong color references. The instructions call for a Medium Gunship Grey which is quite dark. And within the 50 shades of grey I'm a bit lost

Here is a picture of the missiles on the launcher.

Thanks to the isolation I have finished the missiles. Here they are dry fitted onto the launcher assembly.

Looks insane!

Like the caricature of a AA missile armed tank - it's awesome!

I thought it fairly "meh, modern" initially... but now... now it's nuts!

I agree it's really unusual and a great target. However don't forget this thing shot at 52 km and was deployed at Army level. So the probabilty that the average NATO soldier sees one was extremely low.
When I looked for development and operational use information, I was puzzled to learn that The Soviets deployed some of these beast in the early days of Afghanistan invasion. Which aricraft did they think they would face there? ;)

I have sprayed the base color on the vehicle and the missiles. A lot of masking was required for the latter. I found that it is better not to glue the boosters before masking as some areas are really hard to reach otherwise.

When the paint is fully dry I'll spray a coat of Klir, apply the numerous decals on the missiles and start the weathering.
