Ohhhh - nice work Philipp!

I have built this very kit once upon a time many moons ago...
I did in a hard angled late war pattern camo - it's really a nicer one of the Orange Box kits. :D

Very nice idea of having the components in different base colour, makes sense at this point of the war, with essentially everything already lost ;).

Best regards

Thanks everyone! :D

I had considered some brush painted camo, but it kinda looks interesting as it is right now. Of course it still looks a little at the moment

Raoul, the Panzer IV parts are ancient and not really up to standard, so if I do this ever again I need to get a newer kit first

Steve, as of now I'm planning the single figure seen previously and possibly a small vignette. Some urban rubble would be interesting I guess...

Belive it or not, I've been working on this thing for the last two months

Detail painting and chipping is complete, time to break out the oils and pigments:

Of course these tanks saw service for a couple days or weeks at most and simply had no time to get really beaten up, so maybe it's less actual chipping and more sloppy construction by tired factory workers...

I have no idea what colour the barrels are supposed to be, but considering the ungodly amount of dakka these were spewing it's probably reasonable to go with the standard heat resistant grey primer often seen on German tanks.

Without any complicated patterns it looks... "Imperial" in the Star Wars sense ;).

Looking awesome, my own back then was a.... mediocre build if I may say so very carefully  .

Thanks gents! :D

I made a small urban road diorama base from a cheap picture frame, cork and lots of universal filler:

Nice work Phil, I love the muzzle breaks, very “aggressive” looking. Nowadays we would probably call it “tacticool” :D

Interesting contrast between the hull and the turret. I'm eager to see the next step with the oils.

Thanks everyone :)

I've been watching that funny man on Youtube, his recent Tiger build has a similar high contrast scheme. I hope I can adapt some of his techniques to tone down the contrast a little.

In the meantime I finished the base:

The bricks are by German company Juweela. I might need to tone them down a little more. Most of the rest is ground up dirt from the local fields, held together with diluted white glue.

Yep, still fits:

It amazing how a base and figure just ties everything together. A simple base huh?? How long did it take you to put it all together? At least for me when I start a simple base, it ends up being far from simple, and or it still takes me hours to build.

I really enjoy Night Shifts you tube channel. Its easy to start down a rabbit hole watching him. He is a great modeler but man does he spend a lot of time painting and weathering models. My goal in life is to come up with an effective but simple(as not defined as above) way to finish my models. I always get bogged down with the weathering.
