Re: New project
Appears to be a Tamiya T-55A but only you know what it's final designation will be!

Re: New project
Good guess Mark for the base kit. However it won't be a T-something.

Re: New project
I'm with Mark, unless you are converting it into some form of civilian variant?

Re: New project
No Mark and Adam, I'm not skilled enough to go the ways you mentioned.
It simply will be a Tiran 5 of the SLA. I have the Blast Models conversion, superb Modelkasten tracks and some left-overs of a Eduard PE set.
The Blast conversion offers a IDF option with a 105 mm gun, the SLA one and a look-alike Tiran 4 with turret top ventilator.
I decided to try the SLA blue camo as I find it quite attractive.

Re: New project
Cool. Just remember the IDF only provided the 100mm armed T-series. They never let them have the 105mm gun upgraded versions.

Re: New project
I know Mark and I have the good reference book Tirans at Lebanese wars which is a must have.
The sad part of choosing a SLA Tiran is that I'll have an unused resin L7 gun. I really don't know what I can do with it.
For the moment I tackled the fuel tanks piping and latches. I used brass wire and phone wire plastic sleeve for the piping. The latches are made of styrene hexagonal "rod" and bits of plastic strips.
I know the Tamiya kit is not flawless but I do not intend to fully rebuild it. I'll just fix the major and visible mistakes. Next time I hope to post the first pics with resin parts on.
