Re: Lebanese Tiran 5
Had a very productive weekend, used the Legend T-55/62 fuel tank set to replace the Tamiya ones, which are nice but a bit over scale. Had a real struggle with bending all the brass wire for the fuel lines but finally got there.
Installed the engine deck screens and painted the bits I won't be able to get to NATO black.
Also got the drivers washer system done. It comes in both Legend sets I bought, but the one in the Fuel Tank set looks to be more detailed. Pity the reservoir tank will be hidden behind a stowage box eventually.
Pretty happy with the result so far,
Got a pretty quiet week and weekend coming up so should get the swim panel and headlights done as well as most of the other fender. Also planning to distress the rubber on the road wheels and start on the Fruil tracks, both tasks can be done in the evening watching TV!
Got a question for the Russian buffs, the sponsons either side of the turret ring, are they cast as one with the hull or were they welded on? Tamiya provides them as separate parts with a "kinda" weld detail but I'm not sure they are correct. The turret ring and sponsons were widened for the bigger turret on the T-62 and I suspect the Tamiya Tiran 5 is based on a T-62.

All the extra work is absolutely worth the effort!
How about using lead wire for the more curved sections of tubing? Should be a little easier to put in position.
I'll have a look at my fancy new T-54 book, hopefully it'll answer your question.

Re: Lebanese Tiran 5
Nice job Adam. However you have made 2 mistakes.
The fuel lines enter the hull on the engine deck not on the side as you did.
The front washer line runs along the glacis and stops at the edge of the left vision block. It does not run to the right vision block. This one is washed by the line running behind the vision blocks like you did.
Hope this makes sense and helps you.

Roger, will cut washer line between the two vision blocks. As for the fuel lines....I'm pretty much stuck there!

"Some rags could hide the fuel lines ends"
Funny that you said that. I plan on doing the same for my Miniart SLA T-54. That area where the two tow hooks mount and fuel lines all meet up is just a mess I plan to throw some gear and rags to hide the errors.

Great minds think alike (yes I know...."and fools seldom differ") but was thinking the same thing driving to work this morning. Was thinking a tarp might do the trick.Olivier Carneau wrote: ↑25 Feb 2019, 14:33Some rags could hide the fuel lines ends.Adam Durrant wrote: ↑25 Feb 2019, 02:49 Roger, will cut washer line between the two vision blocks. Do your kit instructions tell you the number for the J sprue?
