IDF M3 MkB

Post by Mark Aldrich »

I was going to do the IDF M3 with TCM-20 but as I was looking over Ton Gannon's Book I realized this one seemed far cooler. Hopefully all the parts I need to do this are included in the IDF M3.

I am not planning on the Huge antenna and diesel engine. In Tom's Book there are a couple of m3/S-250 combos that are cool looking. One of them from the Six Day war and the other from Yom Kippur. Other than colors (shades maybe), is the Air recognition stripe.

That looks fairly bizarre

I guess the window in the radio box is a museum addition to let people view the interior?

Philipp,
I concur. The worst part is that they removed the whole side as well. Very few interior shots and would love to see if it sits on the M3's floor.

Really looking forward to see how this one comes together Mark. The conversion will certainly be interesting.

That's a most unusual looking M3 Mark. I'm looking forward to seeing it progress. :)

Thanks guys. Like I stated, I am not making it a Diesel powered machine or making the Extended antenna. It will basically be a M3 with a S-250 Shelter inside. But, like all Dragon kits, I have already had to steal the rear interior of the tub from the SS-11 kit (3579) as Dragon released their M3 (3569) with the fuel tanks in the rear for some reason. Also, Dragon has not corrected the tanks so I will have to fill the large depressions where the back rests go.

Latest progress. Had to pull out my old instructions already to see what the Eff Dragon was thinking of when they made their instruction sheet. They have parts being attached but not showing the actual location of them. I also picked up the Legend M3 stowage set to load this puppy out. I had to break down an order the Perfect Scale Modelbau shelter. There are several issues with the Realmodels one. Most notably the lack of a power supply connection and a very ugly mold seam and bubbles.

This is the Scale Modelbau shelter. Far better detail and it being a hollow casting, it allows me to make a power supply hook up. Does anyone happen to know what the thing inside the red circle is?

I don't know, but it may simply be a ventilation hole cover to protect from the rain
