Slow but steady progress over the last few weeks. Managed to get a few washes done, some streaking, chipping etc.

Deeper chipping done.

I've started adding pigments and may have most of the "muddying" done by the end of the weekend. Minor detail painting to do and also need to add a few highlights with graphite. :D

Very nice Adam

Very nice indeed

It's always a quandary the sequence for washes, chipping, pigments etc

Looks like the big girl is going the right way

She's nearly ready for the party.

Minor set back, I thought all pigments were essentially oil based. Got some Vallejo ones and woundered why they wouldn’t dissolve in the white spirit I applied. Turns out they are acrylic based. Managed to wash em off so back to it tomorrow! :(

Turns out that acrylic pigments are actually quite easy to deal with as per the muddy/dusty stain in front of the turret ring. They are easily fixed with Tamiya acrylic thinner and easy to work with.

Have started applying mud around the running gear but trying not to over do it.

Without interruptions I might have this finished by the end of the week....

Really nice effects Adam. The rust stain especially is lovely. Good work. :)

Fantastic results Adam! :D

I think I might pick up a few ideas for that Stug IV of mine that's been waiting for some weathering for a while 8-)

Got to say I'm pretty chuffed at how this is coming along as well. The AK Interactive DVD on winter weathering has ben very useful, even though I have not followed it step by step. :D

Was on call over the weekend so couldn't spend a lot of time at the bench. Did manage to get the running gear completed and the lower hull all "muddied" up.

Excuse the yellow on the rear deck, it's masking tape as I "rust" the exhausts :D I've also blended some of the bigger mud speckles since seeing this photo.

Just need to add a bit of accumulated dirt on the upper fender corners/recesses and do some work with the pigments and I should be close to finished. Tracks are well underway, but are usually the bit I scratch my head the most about with respect to getting an authentic muddy yet rusted yet worn look :?
