The Maultier box is full but not bagged



And it did tow something similar, though I have not found any references of this version of the Pak 43/3 L/71, I shall use artistic license and build them together anyway,

WooHoo! Not alone anymore! That Maulter is neat! Never really noticed one with a Panzer II running system. Always assumed they were the Italeri style. Can't wait to see this one progress.

The Maultier+Pak 43 combo seems to be really popular I have something similar planned, except that I'll use a Pak 44 instead

It would seem this type of Pak 43 was only used for fixed fortifications on the western border in late 1944. They were probably emplaced by a construction crew and then stayed there until overrun. Of course they had to get there somehow and the Maultier seems like a good choice.

Mark, this version was the only one with the Panzer II suspension. The Carden-Loyd wasn't really suitable for a truck of this size and weight.

Done a bit this week

The engine




21 pieces and no wiring and nothing on the interweb

Usually, always, I love the internet research stuff, but this has really £1$$ed me off big time

I could use some artistic license IF I knew what any of the components attached to the block were!

Where is a knowledgeable mechanically minded fellow blogger when you need one!

The chassis rails, and the slightly mismatched moulds that the kit came out of



Not the best photo but you get the idea, and it pops up all over the parts
I do have a very bad habit of taking the seams off all the parts, even those you will never, ever see

And one of the rails snapped at the sprue attachment points, it just keeps getting better



One super glue repair later and some serious construction




Its long isn't it, 8 inches, or 200mm, and there seem to be a lot of parts too!

A further 71 after the 21 in the engine.

Its going to be a busy day, visiting hospital, so maybe some more next week.

Hopefully someone, PLEASE, might be able to give some guidance on wiring the engine?

Mercedes-Benz have an enourmous digital archive with thousands of photos, but sadly no L 4500 engine among them.

Both sides up and off, with the mechanic/driver scratching his head, looking at the engine.

That is the cunning plan, on a road as one really long diorama, we will see

Either I am getting faster at this modelling thing,

Or this is flying together too

The plastic is very soft and tears up with a file, so I have used nearly half a bottle of extra thin cement, just to smooth off all the swarf from sanding and filing

It is big too,
