Ohh link and length tracks

I feel your pain Raoul ;)

Other wise looks good, nice paint too ;)

I am so envious, you can still paint, as my garage is both without power and currently -1C.

Not allowed to AB in the house, even with acrylics and a paint booth too

I need to catch up again with the GB,

great progress Raoul

Okayokay I get it, I'm provincial, I'm used to two or three return rollers  !

Thanks Steve!
That's got to be annoying (the no AB policy I mean)... especially with the winter going into late high gear... :?

It certainly is,

but we do need to be aware of those indoors

Or they will be very upset  and possibly homicidal

means I shall just keep building and building 8-)

I really must get an update done on the SturmTiger

Better get back to it ;)

If it is some consolation to you: I won't be spraying anything next week because I'm only home ~quarter past seven regularly and will have to throw together something to eat and until I'm done with everything (provisions, cats, anything else ;) ) I would be killed brutally and mercilessly if I switched on the compressor  .

Oh, how do you cats react to acrylics (if they encounter those)? Because mine really don`t care (or mind) except Siggi if I use Mig colours... there has to be something in their smell that gets him really high   .
But then, he gets high on a ton of things the rest don't  .

Enough moping for now, it's horribly cold here at the moment and will go down to ~minus 10° by Wednesday...dooooom!
(If you dear readers happen to be from around a place that's actually cold, feel free to laugh at me  )

Oh and I did some actual work on the kit  .
I used the skirt sections as a test subject for different ways of creating flaked paint. Turns out that the "brush way" while looking perfectly decent when seen in 1:1 fails under conditions of "macro-view" - it looks decidedly inferior to the "sponge-way" . (you where right Philipp ;) )
Nevermind though, it's just the skirts and those will be covered in a lot of dust anyway eventually ;) .
(Also note the "Verlinden-tribute-esque" minor level dry-brushing, something I did extensively when I started out but if overdone makes things look as if they where cell shaded (that is: looking like 2d animation, might actually do this much more pronounced of I ever get around to building a Type 61 tank from Gundam or one of the 30s-esque tanks from Valkyria Chronicles ;) - both actually available in 35th scale... ).

All right - continuation at long last!

I went ahead and applied decals... well... I tried at least... :?

Turns out the decals for the long markings along the turrets are virtually unusable... they break, split and deform at any point.

I at first tried to regularly apply them =>

Not all that great to be honest. :(

Second attempt was just cutting out the decals and using the result as a spray mask... also didn't go all that well (it's the 45mm turrets) =>
Image

The MG turrets actually worked for a change...yay...

...the red stars on the skirts worked as well...

Now here's the kicker: Having looked at some of the photos I have of T-35s knocked out during Barbarossa I just should have gone without any markings... may eventually lead to me getting rid of the decals and re-painting the turrets... =>

I'm open to any suggestions on how to proceed with the markings since I'm a bit bummed out currently... :?

I like the stars, it’s a splash of colour, not sure about the turret bands. I’d stick it on a shelf for a couple of days, cool down and see how you feel then :(

I think those bands were for the parades. Some may have hung around but most were painted over.

You might be able to find some info here: http://t35incombat.narod.ru/index.htm

Thanks for the encouragement and info Adam and Bryan! :D

Though I'm of course aware of the parade use of the markings, I just thought that they would look weirdly retro futuristic, like a dieselpunk Star Wars something, so I thought I'd build the tank in parade configuration ;) .

Anyway, went ahead and over-sprayed the parade pattern decoration with another two layers of modulated green, though given the fact that I'm way too lazy currently to actually go ahead and strip the paint as well as those bloody decals off the turrets I thought I'd leave them as relics of the parade pattern under the field green, maybe some scratches that reveals red again. I'm still uncertain of the star so I'll probably leave it on and semi-hide it under layers and layers of road dust thrown up by the roads of European Russia in summer...

Nice fix Raoul ;)

Good plan too :D

Not having an AB is really bugging me, and seeing your cool modulation makes me need to get the
Garage sorted out PDQ

Progressing nicely Raoul, do you have a scenario planned too?

More soon?
