Here's some green progress to report!
some minor shading has already been done as well as some even more minor modulation, however the vast majority of the colour and paint work remains to be done

(and scotch,,,)
I won't mention that this is not 4BO...

Nice progress. I'm curious about the tracks.

Thanks Bryan!
I'm just as curious about those. They're length and link which I
really don't like, I prefer individual links (recently moveables) or if it
really has to be and
there's absolutely no other option vinyl. Length and link of course
can work fine, but in my opinion they have
way too many ways of screwing up in the fit department...

Got to agree with you Raoul, Indi tracks are my preference, workable even better. I struggle to get paint to stick to the vinyl tracks.
Like the way the T-35 is coming along.

Hobby Boss does have a set of workable T-35 tracks, just in case there's need

Personally I've come to love workable tracks, while the assembly is more tedious they are just so much more comfortable to use on the finished tank.

Thanks Adam!
And thanks for pointing out my critical research failure here Philipp
!
Seriously though: thanks
.
I think I'll try to use the l&l tracks but if it gets too annoying I'll have to bite the bullet and get the more comfy tracks
.
I honestly would prefer getting them straight away, but in the interest of retaining some momentum in the build (I'm still a bit traumatized from letting the last GB fizzle out without any results
) I will see how far I can get with the ootb option
.
In related news: here's the test fitting of the suspension bogeys, sprocket and idler. The very selective presence of painted road wheel rubber is due to the fact that those are the only ones to remain even remotely visible when the covering not-quite-skirts have been affixed. Oh and of course it will be very, VERY dusty in there anyway.
Oh, another reason for using the moveable tracks would be the fact that the bogeys can be posed, they only contact the hull in a single fixture and it's round. A very nice touch for any potential diorama!
=>
And yes, this monstrosity has a whopping six return rollers.... over engineering seems to be a general interbellum thing, it's just the Germans where the only ones keeping doing it once the war got going
.
I also have to say I'm quite happy how the shading turned out so far
.

Maybe, but the T29 is also
just a tiny bit heavier

...The A39 Tortoise has 12 return rollers per side, none of them visible under the side skirts, but I know they are there!!
