Certainly makes me glad my FT kit doesn't come with an engine

Great work so far Adam!

Made a lot of progress this week. Managed to find a few pics of the engine and was able to match colours a bit better than those called out in the instructions.

A few washes and filters to add yet. Have rubbed a bit of gunmetal pigment on some of the high wear areas and am in the process of "gunging up" the engine bay.

All the bits ready to assemble

There are some small parts to be added to the drivers station, and after the oils cure overnight I'll close it all up. I'm a bit worried about this stage, there are a number of small panels, and they all have to line up. I've got lots of clamps on standby (made a trip to Bunnings today) and will possibly enlist the help of my son's small fingers!

I'll post some pics once its all closed up.

Superb work Adam :D

Curious how much will be seen through open hatches?

The drivers hatch is huge so should see all of his station and into the fighting compartment. The engine hatch will show everything behind the radiator, the stuff in front of the radiator will be able to be glimpsed through the drivers hatch. I’ve spent a bit of time on the radiator reservoir tank (not pictured) using AKs “true metal” paste. It will be completely covered, but the experiment with a new product was worth it. :D

Managed to get it all closed up yesterday.

Work in progress, the water tank for the radiator is my experiment in AK True Metal. Its worked out well, and now will be almost totally concealed :(

All closed up. Tried to get some pics with the phone camera to show interior is still mostly on display through hatches but can't do it justice.

This tank is tiny as can be seen by comparison with the Tamiya paint jar in the background.

Pretty busy over the next few weeks so progress will be slow for a while.

Great work Adam!

The interior is beautiful and the engine is a piece of art all by itself and it's almost a shame ot have it closed up! ;)

It's always strange how, well, complete and "modern-tank-like" this very first tank with the common layout was  !

Maybe I have missed it but do you already have decided on a pattern as there are really tons of options for the great war, interbellum and even the second round?

Best regards

Thanks Raoul. I’ve pretty much finished the build phase apart from the drivers hatches. Kind’ve lost my mojo on this one a bit at present and it’s been shelved to make way for the A39 build :(

Thinking of a three tone camo, the one depicted on the box art. It’s part of the reason I’ve stalled as I can’t face all the masking to protect the interior just yet :D

Picked this one up again in an effort to get it finished on time. Primed all the parts with Mig OneShot and then started applying the suggested Green (Mig 065) from the "French WWI Colours Set".

This is way too olive for the shades from my reference, so into the paint stripper it goes.... :(
