REVIEW- OzMods 120mm Resting Aussie Digger North Africa WWII

Post by Justin Wooding »

Hi chaps,

OzMods is a small Australian manufacturer of resin kits and upgrades. You will mainly find aircraft themed items in the catalogue.

http://www.ozmods-kits.com/

But Ozmods does a small range of 120mm Australian military figures, that for a small cottage industry manufacturer are quite nice. I am slowly collecting the series.

Not being able to find many reviews on what you actually get in the box, i thought i would do a small one. Nothing exotic, just a 'this is what you get in the box' look. I'll let the photos do the talking :)

OzMods supply the kit in a good strong box.

Contents of the box...

Figure base and a bag of parts.

Obligatory working with resin warnings.

Advert for the rest of OzMods figure range.

Arms and hands. I saw a broken finger so i didn't unwrap the hands.

Rifle, bayonet, mug and tobacco pipe. Rifle looks a little bent, or is it just me?

And as a tease, here are the major components temporarily assembled.

In conclusion, i say this will build into a real nice figure and portrait of a great subject. Don't expect the same quality you may find in the mainstream resin figure manufacturers kit. Mold lines and some flash are present which will require clean up and there are some deformities and and i had a broken finger, so you will need to do some patch up and repairs. So a little modelling experience will be necessary to put this fella together. There is no instructions, but where all the parts go is pretty self explanatory. The photos on the box are useful references.

For me, i love the pose. It is relaxed but gives that feel of a soldier who is weary but satisfied with his days work. The tobacco pipe is a nice touch.

There is room on the base for some other 120mm scale odds and ends if you have something laying around. This base could easily be blended into something bigger also, or the figure could be put on a base of your own making.

Having optional heads is a nice touch. Having choices is always a good thing. And for those who build a lot of 120mm - 1/16 scale figures, you get a head for the spares box.

I hope someone out there finds this small review useful :)

Very useful Woody

Now you can build and paint it?

Is this your next GB entry?

Have a go, I am sure you will enjoy it ;)
