Chieftain Mk 5 AVLB

I've had this in the stash for quite a few years and not trusted myself to start it, part of the reason I kept pushing for this GB subject was to give me the shove necessary to give it a go.
First thing was to cut the Tamiya Chieftain hull down to size and then add wieghts to it
and then fix that to the resin upper hull.
The bridge is relatively simple, there are some holes to drill out and hinges and brackets to fit.
The problem I have encountered is the with the hinges fitted the bridge won't lie flat but as I will be putting it on the bridge layer I have decided not to stress too much over that. The bridge is BIG, 70cm in length so having folded is the only way to store it.

Nice start! As Olivier recently said, we need more of those things in plastic.
Are you sure you don't want to model a full river crossing diorama?

Quite the endeavor. Looking forward to the progress.

Probably a dumb question and an obvious answer, but why the weights?

The weights are to stop the whole thing toppling over when the bridge is deployed.

Having the bridge extended would look more than awesone
How about
this for inspiration?

Thanks Chris, I knew it would be something simple I was missing!

Mega project alert!!!!
Looking forward to following this one Chris. Makes the Churchill bridge layer I built a while back look small in comparison.
