M1132 Engineer Squad Vehicle
As I kept pushing to have this catergory as a subject for the Group Build I suppose it's time to join in
AFV Clubs M1132 Stryker Engineer Squad Vehicle with Surface Mine Plough.
The plough is for clearing surface laid scatterable mines or bomblets. As such the blade is not designed to dig into the surface but just push the mines to the sides. The ESV is a standard Infantry pattern Stryker with fittings and hydraulics added to the nose to equip a variety of engineer fittings included the SMP in the kit, mine rollers and an angled blade.
After two hours I ended up with this.
I wasn't really following the instructions and added the wrong piece of armour plate on the front left but luckily I was able to get it back off again. Definite case of familiarity breeding contempt

A Stryker Chris
That's a shock
What are the special parts for the first edition?
I take it the AFV is OK OOTB?
You were having to mix and match them some time ago?
Good to see you are up to getting the smell of glue back into your lungs
Nice start

Can't say I'm surprised at your choice of subject, almost as shocking as Raoul doing another 251
Great start!

Re: M1132 Engineer Squad Vehicle
Steve,
the AFV kit goes together like a dream and it's dimensionally correct which is why I kit bashed the last Stryker, to get a variant that AFV Club haven't released. I have two bits of AM to add, a person exhaust deflector and chains for the plough.

Impressive choice Chris!
I don't know much about the Styker/ MOWAG Piranha family of vehicles but this engineering version looks extremely, pardon me, bad ass - like something out of a 1980s action sci-fi film!
Best regards

Tell me about it... I can build a StuG without instructions by now but the last time I actually did this it turned out to be... well not wrong, but a different G than I had actually intended courtesy of familiarity with mid. Gs .[...]. Definite case of familiarity breeding contempt
Best regards

Got to agree with Raoul, the Strykers/LAVS/Boxers remind me of the Space Marine APC out of AlienRaoul Kunz wrote:Impressive choice Chris!

One of the most interesting versions of the Stryker but it needs a lot of room in your display case when finished.
Keep on the good work!

Re: M1132 Engineer Squad Vehicle
The vehicle itself is finished apart from the remote weapons station and I have made a start on the plough. It's rather intense I'll post some pictures later.
