Love the idea, what will you use for water?

That's going to be Noch Modellwasser - something I used for the Heresy and Confusion diorama and Philipp uses it for the sunken KV 2 turret.
It's nice but has a tendency to shrink.

Here's the 251 up to the point I am at as of now.
There's not much AM, it's a great kit to begin with, just a combination of 2m antenna and base by RB.
It's a great kit and I've done one before, however I'll try to have a review up eventually of the Sturmstege set .

Going to have some water in my Vignette but thinking of trying out the AK Interactive water effects from the Diorama range, expensive but we don't really have many other options here in NZ!

This will slow down back to "normal" tempo next week I suppose when I'm back at work .

For now I'm busy going through the separate components to eventually put together and "close" (of course it's open topped as all the SPWs with the exception of the post war Czech OT-810 but there are corners that are quite unreachable with the body glued together) as well as finishing up some of the 251/7 specific part groups, reviewed here, for the same reason.

It's a decal, I'm way too ham-handed to hand paint the M31 Buntfarbenmuster splinter pattern .


I'm still in the preparation phase before fitting the upper and lower hull together but it's getting closer
But first... here's something I'm using to keep myself halfway intact in this temperature - It's the local very sour cider with 2/3 cold water in the specifically patterned glass
In this weather it's my fuel ...


Here's the upper hull with some really rough hand painted (in universe of the scenario as well as in reality ) Balkenkreuze =>


Interior already with some customized elements such as the hand grenades in the "land-mine-bucket" and the eight boxes of 8mm Mauser as well as the opened box with a belt hanging out.
There will be a lot more of these diverse items such as magazines,clips, maps and these kind of items.


Some these items as well as the MG shield.


...which has been used to apply some decoration, probably against regulation (I have this whole set of finely printed scale pin-ups, so why not use them in a way I've seen on period photos of these very MG shields? )

Still edging towards joining the two halves...err.. this sounds wrong somehow...~ still working towards fixing the upper hull in a superimposed position in relation to lower ~ better?

As can be seen I redid the "impro-Balkenkreuz"after realizing that GD used the "long limbed" white open cross in the early war years.
I also added tac markings ("combat engineering half-track" in WH symbols), a vehicle specifics information panel (into which I had to insert a tinytinytiny 2mm "251/7" decal because it's generic for the 251...) and of course the iconic GD steel helmet.
It doesn't have a three digit tac number because GD, being the guards formation they where, was... somewhat idiosyncratic with the use of numbers and symbols. There is rarely a photo of a 251 used by GD that has a three digit tac number, instead they usually feature either specific heraldic symbols or the more elaborate tac designators and that's it... it would seem that tac numbers are for the plebs, GD coordinates on the field of battle by Prussian intuition without the need for crutches such as numbers! Did the Great Elector need numbers?! Did FR need numbers?! There you have it!

The white thingy under the MP-35 is a map... there's too much light to actually see it as such but I assure you it's a map and not a white rag ...
