Re: Alan Pz II Flammpanzer Sd Kfz 122
Thanks Vincent,
Philipp deserves the praise, at least he is watching what is happening
Been distracted somewhat recently with Anna, but she is on the mend after her operation.
The fix
It was easy enough as I am using Tamiya extra thin cement on this build, the first time in ages
Reason is my thick super glue has started to string, so until the new one arrives, I went old school.
The teeth on the drive sprockets do not line up
Quickest fix is to cut off the inner teeth and glue back into the tracks
Filled the gap behind the turret, for the turret tab,
Is it an Alan problem, and could also be the turret is too far forward
As this is a "quick" build we will go with what we have!
The next issue to address will be the tracks and running gear?
Nothing really lines up, at all
So I shall try a Rob Matthews fix, by gluing the running gear to the tracks as a single piece, 1:72 scale so to speak,
at least it will all line up, and Rob did a really good job on the build he tried it on.
Some masking will help, then it becomes a paint and masking exercise.
More soon?
Thanks for popping by
Steve H
Raoul, off work next week, so a catch up or sure

I'm glad you could fix it
Everything else needs some fixing too it seems.... If I recall correctly the turret was bolted in place on these tanks, so it might be the easiest option to simply cut off the turret ring and glue the whole thing onto the hull at the correct position?

Your making an old kit look pretty good. It amazes me at one time this would have been considered a good kit. Well maybe anyways.

Looks like your Flammpanzer is as good as my PRAM indeed. But I notice you're as stubborn as I. None of us will give up, that's true modeling

What a chore!
Do you by any chance have a Tristar/HoBo 38(t) Ausf. B in store?
It has these exact smoke dispensers in supremely great quality and if you don't build it for the 39 or 40 campaigns it really doesn't need them.
I have several sets left over... they're yours if you want them .
Best regards

Re: Alan Pz II Flammpanzer Sd Kfz 122
Update time
Thanks for popping by,
This is a quick build doesn't feel like it, to be honest, but it isn't a shake and bake tamiya kit, is it
Almost done,
Philipp, fixed turret? can find either a yes or no, but it does make sense, it will be set and fixed for painting and postage
Nothing has fit and nearly every part has had to be filed and scribed to tidy and make it fit, so as for cutting edge?
Maybe, once upon a time, Shawn, but if I ever wanted to do another I would choose the Bronco kit, DEFINITELY
I can feel you pain Olivier, I still think I got off lightly, no pun intended, and as I am really building this for PAINTING EXERCISE,
so no extra detailing unlike your superb built, Great work Olivier
No 38t B in the stash, unfortunately Raoul, but thanks for the offer, strictly OOTB, and they don't look too bad
The tracks and running gear, well it has worked, creating a single piece, but would be very difficult for an interleaved set up.
Set and sealed nicely
Just some very thin plastic card to trim on the inner front fenders, then degrease and prime
She is very shiny due to all the extra thin Tamiya cement.
It has been coated due to all the scribe and filing required
Once the primer is on, it should look better
So far so good
More soon

Looking good Steve
Concerning the turret, I've yet to see a photo where the turret is not pointing straight ahead. I really see no other reason for installing the MG in a ball mount. I've checked with the instructions of the Bronco kit and it also says to glue the turret in place.

Re: Alan Pz II Flammpanzer Sd Kfz 122
Fixed turret then Philipp
Thanks Shawn, the tracks came out so much better than I ever imagined
Thanks Vincent, its been fun sorting out the old beast, no PE just OOTB and plenty of sanding
Primer done
with a light coating of dust
Now all I have to do, it dig out my spray booth from under 6 months of rubbish dumped in the garage
Maybe some AB modulation, another tank in the AB queue, along with the T34-85 with Thoma shields
Sd Kfz 232 6 wheeled armoured car, Adler 13 armoured car, Pak 35, and several buildings too
More this weekend?
Hopefully
