Trumpeter SU-152
And here's my second entry, the SU-152 by Trumpeter:
The SU-152, introduced in 1943, was the ultimate assault gun in the Soviet arsenal, capable of dealing with both fortifications and German armour through sheer brute force. There are stories of Tigers and Panthers that had their turret ripped off by impact force alone without any armour penetration. It was also quite capable of being used as traditional artillery. Its successor, the ISU-152 based on the IS tank chassis, was kept in service until the 1970s - mostly because it was the only armoured vehicle that could fire 152 mm nuclear grenades....
Like the Marder, this is a fairly simple kit, being based on their excellent KV series kits. Nonetheless the box is quite full, but mostly because it's a large vehicle.
The kit comes with a metal barrel with hollow once piece plastic muzzle brake, but since it has some serious dimensional errors I bought a replacement by RB Model long ago. And while I was at it, some ammo to scatter on the engine deck...
I haven't started yet but plan to go ahead in the next few days. It all depends on how soon I can prime the Marder
In the meantime you can read the reviews by Neil Stokes or Terry Ashley, who have pointed out the various minor issues with this kit that I may or may not fix along the way...

Re: Trumpeter SU-152
Looks like a fair amount of work there Philipp. I've got the Tamiya ISU in my stash and there is a lot less in the box than the Trumpeter offering!
Are you going to use the kit tracks or aftermarkets?

Re: Trumpeter SU-152
Of course Tamiya is always playing in a league of its own. This one is still a fairly simple kit, I should have it assembled in a few days if no problems occur.
I started on the hull last night, you begin with a little surgery:
It's all marked on the parts, so it's no big deal.
And, as with all of the Trumpeter KVs, you sooner or later end up with this:

Another one started Philipp? You are a modelling machine. Great choice though. There is something compelling about those big brutes.

Re: Trumpeter SU-152
Well, go big or go home, especially when you have a couple million enemy soldiers in your home
Some progress, the hull is basically the same as on any other KV-1s out there. Rather uneventful so far.
I've kept the solid mesh pieces, mostly because I have no replacement at hand, but also because assembling these replacements can be a little difficult. With proper painting and a dark wash these look acceptable enough for me.

Re: Trumpeter SU-152
With the running gear complete, I started on the tracks. The first run is on:
The instructions say 88 links per side and to my surprise that's perfectly true. Once the glue has set I can take them off again in a single piece for painting. I really need to get this out of the way before I attach the fenders. Once these are on I can finally start on the superstructure.
On the photo there's a little gap between two links on top of the idler, I just fixed that.

Are the tracks the ones from the kit or aftermarket ones? They look very nice

You're going fast! Nice build on the track, the gap is nearly invisible. I guess the wheels are not glued yet.
