Hi chaps,

Thanks very much. More progress this week there will be.

I got sidetracked and started building the Thunder Models Case Tractor, and what a great little kit that is! 8-)

Hi chaps,

Been quiet on the forum! I've been pretty busy. I'll get some photos up on the weekend of my forward but slow progress on my Type 1 :P

Ok, so some progress. Slow but it's in a forward direction :P

The support below the gun was drilled and opened up. The openings were molded solid (sorry, forgot a photo of it) so out came the drills and knife blade to cut out the openings for a much better look...

Next, i found an image that had a reasonable view (image courtesy of Wikipedia public domain) of the jack...

I saw an oppurtunity to improve a little on the kit component. It's not bad, but i saw where i could open a couple of holes and cut away some plastic.

Kit part before improvement...

I tried making the kit engine deck grill look better, but failed on this one miserably.

Luckily the photo etch set had a new one. I was trying to avoid this because it looked pretty fiddly. But, making a mess of the kit part, i had no choice but to have a go.

The slats of the grill have to be angled. They only are held together by the minutest of points that must twist to get the angle. Too much twisting and they were going to come off, i only had one or two chances to get this right. Anyway, there was a lot of swearing and cursing to get everything lined up and looking half straight :P

These are some great little upgrades, shows how much you can achieve with just a little extra work :D

Nice work on the grills, Woody ;)

I always work on the basis of, all the damage my hanfistedness causes is genuine "battle damage"

Love the work on the jack too, that is really satisfying, the little tweaks which make it look so much better ;)

Nice work

You did some really good work on detailing the plastic parts.
