Thanks guys

wish I had soldered the ammo boxes but they don't look too bad with paint.

As washes are the order of the day , I should get some done this week, but the big question is which is best for brick walls?

I can say, from where I am, paint it cement coloured and dry brush with acrylics, Oils can work too, Adam, but as an accent, I will use the 502 Abeilung colours to pick out some odd bricks along with a range of pastels too.
I have quite a lot of 502 oils, I found a clearance sale in an internet shop where they obviously did not appreciate what they were selling at a £1 a tube

The pigment paste is a real PITA

I wiped the walls off 5 times and they were still rubbish, so I dry brushed them

A better picture later ;)

And the fire escape is finished 80+ pieces and very fragile

Some serious chipping, and the pigmented wall after dry brushing

Next will be washes and filters to bring out the wooden handles and age in the weathering too!

Seems like OPR will be happening here too ;) as well as the Flammpanzer II ;)

On another note, how did the alternative to photobucket go Philipp :?:

It has taken 3 days to load some photos and all day on and off to add them to 2 blogs

It is slow, unpredictable and every time you attempt to do anything, it has a soft porn pop up advert

Hope this has helped with pigments v dry brushing

More in awhile, and hopefully a better photo service too, one day, hopefully

Have a good Easter Monday

Looking good Steve :)

I've come across a German company that offers 1 GB webspace for free. You get all the other benefits a paying customer would have, except for your own website domain, which I don't really need... You have to upload your stuff by FTP client but at least you're free to do what you want with your files afterwards. I'm sure there's something similar on the British market...

Looks good Steve. Like you I'm a fan of 502 oils but have to shell out $6 for a tube (still cheaper than W & N oils). The brick work should come up nice with a wash and a bit of detailing like posters/bills.

Good pick up with the oils Steve. I really like using them. :)
The stairs have come up a treat too. Really nice.

Cheers,

Oy! That's a great deal for any oils, let alone modelling specific ones!

I use them primarily for vehicles washings, most other purposes I either use acrylics or regular cheap artist oils of which I bought a rather substantial set ....err... ages ago ;)

Sorry to hear about the pigment paste annoyance though after drybrushing it looks decidedly great!

Awww...photobucket... I was really tempted to actually go premium, if only to get annoyed less by it, but turns out the coding for the subscription sign up is so buggy it didn't manage to process my attempt... well... if they don't want paying customers... :?

Best regards

Steve- The pigment slurry may have been a PITA, but it came out really great. How did the inside turn out with dry brushing the brick color over the light base coat? What color did you use on the bricks. It looks spot on.

Nice work on everything in the build. The stair will look great when they are finished.

Hey Steve! Wow, you are doing an amazing job with that building. The stairs are very impressive!

Going back, your work on the Heuschrecke is equally impressive! :ugeek:
Woody...

Trying hard to do some modeling!

Opps

Thanks chaps, its been too long

I didn't realise it had been this long since the last update!

I have finished the brickwork and fire escape, just windows and doors, but lets get caught up first

The brick colour mix Shawn
Image
Pastels for additional shades and the rust is for the fire escape
Image

The walls with pigment is a PITA, every time you try to blend anything, the pigment "dusts" up, if it was a small portion of brick, fine, but a full wall, not very good,
I shall stick to painting a wall, mortar colour and dry brush the bricks in, vary the shades with pastels and different mixes of the 3 primary colours.
A quick reminder where I was.

And where I am

The light has really bleached all the colour out of the shots!
and the Grasshopper interior

Once the Flammpanzer has been finished, I'll take some better photos, hopefully

Loved doing the fire escape, annoyed with the rubbish photos

More soon?

That's turned out great Steve, really like the fire escape and the interior of the Heuschrecke looks great. Interiors are hard to photograph so don't be hard on yourself.

Thanks Chris

The camera takes no prisoners!

The chipping in the interior, is a little blobby in places

I'll need to tighten it up with some off white and a light wash ;)

I really need to get a better photo of the fire escape and the wall, as it was really washed out, hopefully tomorrow,

and some more on the Flammpanzer too :D
