Thanks Rob, very similar to what I have in mind but I'm going to go with a "raw steel sheet with rust" look if I can achieve it!

All done on the build, I have never used "link and length" tracks before but these turned out pretty good so not as afraid of them as I was :D

The overall build was pretty straight forward and I managed to get it all done in 3 nights. The only changes I have made is to separate the side skirts, detail the inside of the open hatch, drill out all the holes in the "colander" storage box (there are alot of holes) and change to opening for the MG at the front to a flat sheet of armour plate.

Image

I have included the commanders periscopes and the main gun sight. Looking at images on line looks as though the Hetzers were taken off the production line at various stages of assembly and no two appear the same. This gives me a bit or artistic licence!

Just realised I didn't put my scratch built front end in the pic.

Anyway, should be able to shoot primer tomorrow with some luck.

Both builds completed before the end of Jan, should give me plenty of time to finish them before the June deadline....still see myself rushing at the end however!

That was fast :D

You might reconsider the gun sight though, that thing was mounted directly on the gun, which is obviously missing on yours. Just for that little bit of extra accuracy ;)

The parts count is pretty low Shawn, compared the the Paladin build it has about a 1/10 the bits and way less PE. Sadly both kits were about the same price!

Hmm, strange. The Academy Hetzer is fairly cheap around here, even the special version you're building sells for around 30 Euros on Ebay, which is on the lower end for an AFV kit.

The Hetzer was NZ$49 from HobbyEasy, the Paladin was NZ$62, so only about 6 Euro in it.

I know how this guy feels;

https://youtu.be/6PJaMaEf4ZY

My reference pics are not sacking up against the kit....or is it the other way round?

There is only one surviving example of this vehicle that is thought to be authentic and it's been painted a somewhat fanciful colour. Thinking more and more this one will be "in the white" with "mill scale and rust".
