Man, I'm scared to do one figure with a model. You're tackling a whole Battalion. Best of luck and keep 'em coming.

Thanks Vincent, Mark, Gary! :D

I somehow feel the need to do this every time I'm off a while, but again, I'm still alive ;) .

I had... a tiny bit of a busy work week, followed by a busy weekend, followed by a week of school that contained a whopping three tests and two presentations...followed by a busy weekend... so I was.. busy... but I really could have mentioned that at least, so I'm still quite a shitty bloke in this regard :oops: .

Anyway... being sorry aside I managed to insert some time for the dio here and there and progressed a bit.

With AB groundwork=>
Image
Now with natural earth and grass by Fredericus Rex=>
Image
Some more examples to see if it works as intended =>
Image
And again with tanks =>

And now I'm out of grass...
.
..
...
Yea I know how this sounds... a long-haired, full-bearded early 30s university drop out gets panicky because he's "out of grass"... :roll: :lol: :oops: .... :lol:

A new load of grass is on it's way from his majesty (FR that is ;) ), so it shouldn't be long ;) .

Best regards

Raoul G. Kunz

I'll have a more elaborate apology for you within the next couple of days Steve... at least it's a three day week... still... I feel all kinds of bad :? ...

Thanks Vincent, Steve and Adam!

Yeah..., I know, the grass joke was all kinds of silly :roll: :oops: , especially since I'm not even smoking tobacco, let alone anything else, but blame Philipp! He noticed that my desperate 11PM complaint of "having run out of grass" had...ambiguous implications :lol: .

Adam, I personally use Fredericus Rex grass nodes, they offer different shades (bright green, green, autumn, dry) in a couple of lengths, shapes and forms.
They come in several suggested scales (6mm, 28mm/72nd/76th, 48th/35th/32nd) - i.e. you of course can use shorter 28mm/72nd/76th scale grass nodes representing short trimmed grass in 35th or 48th scale
It's also acceptably cheap, especially when contrasted to the whole "railway-table" assortment, which is the wrong scale usually anyway...
I do suppose there has to be a equivalent available in NZ? While they do have an anglophone site I suppose shipping down under would negate any benefits? :?
I honestly don't know much about the whole electromagnetically directed grass, I looks as if it might offer an altogether cheaper alternative after some initial investments and a steeper learning curve (anything has a steeper learning curve than "stick it on the base with glue" - Raoul's overly critical subconsciousness) , maybe someone who uses the stuff can tell you more?

Best regards

Thanks Raoul, did a bit of research and there are a few equivalents down this neck of the woods, difficulty will be I won't know what "looks right" till I buy a few and have a look as there is no where to "view first"!

Hmpf, seems to be a bit of an annoyance not being able to see what you buy - it's like, as we say in Germany, "buying the cat in the bag" ("to buy a pig in a poke") though you neither get a cat (that would be awesome ;) ) nor an edible pig :lol: .

New grass nodes arrived yesterday! Hooray! :mrgreen:

Of course they where immediately put to good use!

A short explanation here: I have very bright cold lights at my modelling table, so everything really looks somewhat hyper-saturated... it's not even remotely as ...hyper-colourful in reality ;) .

Edit: I just realized I still have a whopping three days to get this done... freakout time! :o :shock:
