Re: Tamiya Marder III
Here's the current state of affairs after painting. Base colour is Tamiya German Grey with some faint black shading on top. For the markings I tried my luck with stencils this time, and while it has some challenges of its own I think it's a fairly elegant solution. I discovered at the last possible moment that I had forgotten an extra fender bracket, so this isn't ♥♥♥ but rather its rarely seen sister vehicle, ♥♥
I also started with the detail painting but it's still a long way to go. Not to mention the tracks...

Looks good Philipp. The wee box full of holes on the right fender, what's it for? I note there is one on the back left fender of the Hetzer as well.

Re: Tamiya Marder III
Thanks Adam
The "holes box" was a standard feature of the 38t family. As far as I remember it was for track grousers, but since these were rarely seen it was probably filled with whatever junk the crew decided to carry along...

So obviously things you didn't mind getting wet, dusty or covered in crap inside the "colander" storage box!Philipp Gross wrote:Thanks Adam

That paint really looks good Phillip. You must have lightened it up a good bit. Tamiya German gray looks a lot darker than that when I have used it.

Actually the lighter parts are just grey straight from the bottle, usually I'm adding a bit of black to darken it. This time I forgot that before I started spraying and then went ahead to see what happens. The lighting and camera settings might make it look a little lighter than it actually is.

It's down to two HP!
Probably because it lacks armour.
...seriously though - looking really good there Philipp!
Best regards

The black shading makes an nice subtle effect on plain gray Philipp. I'm liking this a lot.

Re: Tamiya Marder III
A little detail painting, I was going to do the separate shells as well, but for reasons that seem obvious in retrospect painting them with a brush proved to be futile. I'll do another attempt with the airbrush tomorrow.
