Tamiya 25pdr Field Gun 1976

Post by Justin Wooding »

Ok chaps, this is one of the fondest modeling memories for me. I think as kids, my friend Glen and i nearly wet ourselves when we were given this for our soldier collection. I think i was about 9 or 10 when i first looked in the box. I was 4 when the kit was released :)

The Tamiya box art has always been, and still is a great thing to look at. I think it is some of the best out there.

So this is what is in the box. Simple, pure and uncomplicated modeling fun and enjoyment... :D

Intriguing choice Woody!

I suppose we will see the whole gun from the 70s crew in action?
It's actually really nice of Tamiya to include a gun crew...something that certainly isn't done any-more. Today you'd have to buy a special figure set, if there is any that is... :?

I was thinking the same Raoul, some artillery kits do come with figures, but not all. What i did like is the fact that there are 6 figures with this, which is the actual requirement for manning the gun. The 25pdr was manned by five gun crew and a tractor driver. A lot of arty kits come with minimal figures and definitely not enough to make a full crew.

Hopefully have some progress photos up tonight or tomorrow :P

Fully agree on the figures issue. Especially since there is still an enourmous lack of proper figure kits for artillery crews - pretty much all you can get is Germans in 1940-43 summer uniforms.

Hi chaps,

This is where i am at so far. A couple of tiny parts to add. This kit is quite nice and not as bad as i expected apart from the ejector pin marks to deal with. Overall fit is good considering it's age. I have seen many more modern kits that are way worse than this!

Seems to me, he is happy with the quality of the work - and why shouldn't he be? :D
