Looking good Steve! Your little Panzer is looking suitably ravaged by the harsh elements of the desert

Latest update of the little one
And Herman
Just letting the oils dry and then ????
this is a first as I don't think I have been this close to a fully finished build, with all the ""usual"" techniques applied
I have realised the exhaust and spare track will need doing too, Good job I took the photos to remind me
Herman is in the herd of heads and figures, currently being done.
A 6 by 4 picture frame with sand as a base , and ground down builders sand for dust too, then finished
Then straight to E-bay
More later
Steve H
More soon Raoul, the heads are getting slowly to the best bit, 2nd shade and highlight, you really know whether you have got it right by then
The tracks are as good as thye will get, I must remember to photo them too

Fat Herman is looking less tubby as the paint goes on!

Turned out a very nice desert IIF Steve!
I especially like how the colour turned out the revisited "peeled" Afrikabraun paint-job!
And of course then there is Herman who looks definitely less tubby than back when he was less colourful - paint improves his face greatly...*possibly sexist thought incoming*...I suppose that's why women use makeup?
Looking forward to see your profile sporting the disco-dan of campaign ribbons !
Best regards

Re: Tamiya 1:35 Panzer II F/G 35009, 1971!
Thanks chaps
It good to get feedback and now I need more and be honest too.
This is new ground for me, I think it is nearly finished
The turret MG has just been replaced and needs painting, the spare track links are only base coated, but I think the rest is done
I have done all the things which are listed/expected/desired , chipping, OPR, pigment/pastels, do I Matt coat it now?
Be honest, what have I missed?
Herman has a place in the Raoul workshop queue too
I wait with baited breath for your sage council
Got any tips chaps
Steve H
Just seen something
Oil and grease staining on the engine deck and wheel hubs
Anything else,please?

Re: Tamiya 1:35 Panzer II F/G 35009, 1971!
Nice work Steve!
My only suggestion for a desert vehicle would be to add more fine light dust to the entire vehicle. I usually fix them in place by carefully spraying Tamiya thinner on everything with the airbrush. You might want to add a matte clear coat before that to make sure everything else isn't affected and to give the pigments a better surface grip.
Looks like poor Hermann has a sunburn?

Thanks Philipp
I was wondering about that
Herman will come together as the final stages of flesh/face painting arrive, he wont fit in the turret either
Anything else, anyone?
Regards

Re: Tamiya 1:35 Panzer II F/G 35009, 1971!
The dusting aside which I would have suggested had Philipp not been faster, I'd suggest to get the KwK 30 and the MG-34 on the same plain and angle because they where mounted coaxial.
The chipping is great by the way !
The final thing I'd suggest, but that could very well be irrelevant because it you would have taken care of it anyway when shooting the "beauty" photos, would be to light the whole shoot with "cool" lighting. I've struggled with this for ages until I went ahead and bought studio lights because the warm "standard" light bulbs really cause the colours to turn out...well.. "untrue" .
Best regards

Co axial level, check
it must have slipped , bit of surgery required
Cool lighting
Figured it out, I have "cool" bulbs around my spray booth, I'll give them a try and see how it changes the overall picture of the Pz II
It will be the weekend, but there are some heads and Herman on the bench, so plenty to do at the moment
Thanks for the updates Raoul
Much appreciated, you too, Philipp
