Congrats on that speedy build Steve. The airbrush will clean up. PM me if you are having problems.
The paint job looks great - Keep it coming

Re: Tamiya 1:35 Panzer II F/G 35009, 1971!
Thanks Rob
Appreciate the help, I think I really need to do the paint mix like milk, as I have seen in too many DVD's
It I can't get her sorted, I'll be in touch
I do need to practice, again!, It's been 18 months since I used the AB, she is a real Deva, and wants spoiling before she will perform
But when she works she is a real beauty, a wonder to behold,
Decals on and a base sepia wash to start the ball rolling.
More photos tomorrow, maybe the portly tank commander might get some paint too
Thanks for popping by

Steve, not that you asked for my .02, but, the two things I have found with the airbrush - use it a lot and don't worry too much what others do - use them as a starting point and figure what works for you from there.

Re: Tamiya 1:35 Panzer II F/G 35009, 1971!
Got to agree. I've tried everything that my elders and betters in modeling clubs, forums and shops have suggested for airbrushing. I found that trial and error with my airbrush, my favorite paints and my painting style has rendered the best results. I also keep a note book of thinning ratios for different paints and effects. I used to see airbrushing as a chore, now it's one of my favorite steps in the build!Matt Parvis wrote:Steve, not that you asked for my .02, but, the two things I have found with the airbrush - use it a lot and don't worry too much what others do - use them as a starting point and figure what works for you from there.

Still think you should include the tubby tank commander, his little paunch gives him character

Re: Tamiya 1:35 Panzer II F/G 35009, 1971!
Thanks Matt, Adam
Totally agree with you both, I remember the effort it took to aquire the H&S AB, I worked 30 hours of overtime to raise the cash, and when it arrived I spent many hours "playing" with my new toy, I loved it, and was heart broken when she was packed away due to work on our house.
I will rekindle the "love" but have rushed the first hurdle, with the euphoria of the 70's build
I have 6 kits lining up for the "kiss of the H&S" and want to do them, the justice they deserve, as they are well built, even if I say so myself
We can be self promoting as Brits, if we try hard enough
Fat Herman will be making an appearance, as I am currently doing some work for Raoul and he will be a welcome addition to the figures I am painting
It will also be a exercise to push the envelope of my own comfort zone with figure painting too, I currently have dozens of 1/2 finished figures on the bench, so I need to finish both the Panzer and her sturdy commander, to consider the 70's experiment completed
More later today, weather and SWMBO pending

Re: Tamiya 1:35 Panzer II F/G 35009, 1971!
Opps, should have done this sooner
Where to start?
Herman the commander, primed
Dry brushed and eyes started
Hopefully it will get better, but it isn't a Hornet head!
Next the Panzer
heavy handed sepia wash!
2 hours of "stumping" the wash back!
Over done the chipping back to Panzer grey, even Anna noticed, it was too much
Back to basics with some brush modulation to reduce the grey chipping
It does look a little better now
More tomorrow
Regard

Re: Tamiya 1:35 Panzer II F/G 35009, 1971!
Morning
Herman is starting to get some colour, still a little bog eyed, but over the course of several layers of glaze, that will settle down
Trust me, I have learned the hard way
Take 2 on the Pz II
Even Anna is happy, this time
The MG snapped
How many holes can you drill in a cocktail thin piece of 40 year old plastic
NOT as many as I did
I have a period authentic replacement in my spares box
to be configured and installed over the weekend
Next
A VERY LITTLE brush chipping, then OPR
FUN fun FUN
More to come

Shame about the MG, but the rest is turning out magnificent Steve!
Your initial ageing on the IIF ist already very nice... now if it didn't have those tracks.. but I suppose we have to live with it - for the sake of unadulterated fun .
Best regards
