Stage one complete, 6 hours later the Pz II is built

Do I really need to do a review and sprue shots?

spent ages drilling out the cooling holes in the Mg 34 sleeve,

She is drying off now, ready for undercoating later today

Veeery nice, I had one of those to start out with too - it's the perfect "first 35th scale" kit - simple, cheap and goes together nicely .

Your MG drilling kind of mirrors the aspects that I couldn't just leave in my IV D... the MGs just need to be drilled, I'm only thankful that mine had an armoured barrel .

This was my first 1/35 Tamiya kit. I was done in two days and quite irritated, with my previous experience mostly consisting of fiddly 1/72 kits....

It seems we have a shared history in modelling

Primed ready for paint

Now, the real challenge is finding my prized H&S infinity air brush
Packed away in November 2014, and currently NOT where I thought it was
I have reinstated my air brushing station though

It is still in the chaos of my garage come workshop

Do I really want to try and do something with the figures
The tank commander

I will try to do something with it, if it goes well I will try the other 4 figures too.

I do have one final idea, for this build, once it is finished.

I will auction it on E-bay and give the resulting cash to PA, as an additional donation.

It is the very least I an do.

Time for the search for the illusive airbrush

I found my H&S air brush

3 hours of stripping it and dipping in alcohol and AB cleaner, a full gasket service an she maybe able to perform again shortly



I think I will be back to dots and wavy lines for awhile

Can't wait to fire her up again

Sadly Raoul, I checked and Ron Saunders started hornet in 1986

I have done both the AB and the commander figure, both with limited success

So the proof of work nearly done

I have undercut the jawline and drilled out the ears, but he still looks like he ate all the pies, or Bratwurst!
Certainly a prime candidate for the Herman Goering regiment, the other figures will be starring on E-bay in the near future

As for the air brush, I found a part that isn't detailed in the manual when I stripped it down?


A deep clean and service

After a session of splatter, splutter and splash, I really need to go back to basics
I couldn't wait to strip and repaint, so this is it, with a little badly applied brush modulation too
Washes will moderate the modulation


One bonus, my photos of my inadequacies do seem to be improving
Next is decals and I will be following the box art to the letter

First and foremost: yes, your photos are significantly better! ; and secondly: what inadequacies? It's an ancient kit, and your AB was apparently moping, so not your fault!

The figure should work out I think, it's not done by me after all . I mean there's a reason why my IVD commander didn't get a close-up mugshot, but he has a moustache to look cool like Guderian and hide his deformities ...

Regarding your AB... that's the reason why I use a 15€ piece (strangely enough it's better than all the others before...). The 50€ peice was horrible and died, the 190€ piece died on me... the 15€ item is perfect... something is decidedly wrong here .

It's probably so crude that it survives my abuses .
