Steve,

Of course I know of these... however I saw one episode as a fansub and decided that it's a) a school environment anime b) a sports type anime c) a fanboy anime and d) it has overtones of the "harem" genre... all of which I really don't like, I'm a "seinen" (for age 30-dementia) anime fan and prefer a vastly different art style  .

The IVD however is, as far as I know, a licensed Dragon kit and we would essentially pay to have a couple of different decals.

If it where a tad bit cheaper... as in .. oh I don't know... in the 35-40 bucks (the relevant currencies have been roughly on the same level anyway for the past 5 years) it might be a nice change of pace - a realistic model painted with silly markings... but if I where ready to invest this amount into this exercise I'd go straight to GW WH40K kits in order to be able to ignore anything even remotely realistic  .

I suppose on the end it's the price and the character design that kill it for me - I'm certainly a watcher of anime but some art-styles just rub me the wrong way... either because of utterly plain look, the occasional latent paedophile tendency or completely screwed up proportions  .

Looking over my arguments I realize that I should be able to detach the series narrative characteristics from the kits that come with it.... but I'm too romantic (as in: overly concerned with emotional impact  ) to actually be to rational...

Best regards

Raoul G. Kunz who is fully prepared to build vastly unrealistic horribly complex giant mecha if he likes the series

Raoul, that is quite the answer. I'd have just said "Nah-I don't like the show and the kit is too expensive anyway.  Of course, I'm a bit simple minded when it comes to these sorts of things, so that should come as no surprise.

I would be more than willing to contribute to a fund to get some business cards printed up for Raoul that have the above title on them. :D

PS. I do hope that earlier post came off in the spirit of fun in which it was intended.

Don't worry, it was perfectly understandable even in my way-too-long-awake state of mind  .
