Re: Tamiya StuG IV
Ugh. I'm really not used to painting multicolour camo schemes any more (if I ever was). Very much WIP what you see here:

Re: Tamiya StuG IV
Masking tape, panzer putty, blu tack, hand paint the lines between each colour then air brush
Can't think of anything else that might help
Nice start though Philipp

Looks good to me Philipp. Don't ever forget about this if you are worried about how a camo scheme looks:
It looks like you've done it here, but, one thing I try to take into account when painting camo like this how an actual person would have been able to paint the camo. For us, with an airbrush it is really easy to have a line that extends nicely from front to rear, in reality though, unless the person doing the painting in the real world had really, really long arms there would be some kind of interruption in the line.

Re: Tamiya StuG IV
Thanks everyone for the feedback
I guess you've all seen this photo:
So yeah, I'm not too worried about perfection, it's just a few areas where the lines got too wide or the paint too thick. Also I should have added a little more thinner to the brown. And the airbrush started to sputter a bit after about an hour of use....
I'll add a very thin layer of dark yellow on top to break up the contrast a little, everything else should be solved by further weathering.

Yeah Philipp, that picture is exactly my point, we like to portray these kinds of things as neat and clean, and the reality is that they weren't.

Re: Tamiya StuG IV
Yep...But then there's the challenge of making the imperfections look authentic and not just like sloppy modelling

Re: Tamiya StuG IV
Things have escalated a little:
Yep, I had a little mishap with the brown paint jar....

Looks good to me and with weathering I think it is going to look really nice. <-- No, that isn't to say I don't think it looks good now, it is just that the weathering will tie everything together and bring out the details.

Re: Tamiya StuG IV
Very nice Philipp
free hand has worked out well for you
The proportions of each colour sit well together
The weathering will really bring out the zimmerit too
Great progress
