Re: Tamiya StuG IV
Yeah, the whole group build business starting tomorrow reminded me of some unfinished business of mine...should take care of that first
Among other reasons, this got stalled because I wasn't happy with the camo scheme. So I added a whitewash
I used white pigments mixed with water, which have the advantage of coming off again whereever I don't want any. Once happy I fixed everything in place with a generous overspray of Tamiya thinner. On top of that came a simple dark oil wash.
I'll be doing a small vignette for it, which will, if you haven't guessed yet, involve snow

Re: Tamiya StuG IV
Morning
too early and eyes not working very well
I REALLY did think this was the start of the retro GB and I had lost a day
The white wash does look good Philipp, and a solid reminder to get my $tu££ together ready for tomorrow
I have a victim, just need to get it introduced and built
You could always do another Tamiya Stug IV, as your retro GB too
Time for more caffeine

Morning Steve
Thanks a lot! I like this kit but I don't think I'll do another one in the near future. Still got my Dragon smart kit Stug IV to build some day

Re: Tamiya StuG IV
Well, this could have gone a little faster, but here's another update:
I'll use this as an opportunity to try out modelling ice and snow on a winter vehicle, I hope it goes slightly well

So, here are the results...using baking soda and some weird ice gel by Noch.
What do you think? Suggestions for improving this mess are more than welcome...

Nice job Philipp!
The Noch ice ...mass, gell, protomolecule stuff looks surprisingly good as wet semi-melted snow!
Best regards

I like it Philipp. The ice looks very realistic. Good job.

Re: Tamiya StuG IV
Thanks everyone
I'll add a few specks of dirt on top of the snow and ice.

Re: Tamiya StuG IV
I'd agree with the other two. Looks fine to my eyes. The only thing is that the grain size is a bit large. Could you put a coat of gloss varnish over it and then a sprinkle of micro balloons the "soften" the look a bit?

Re: Tamiya StuG IV
I'm afraid I don't have micro balloons, nor have I ever heard that term?
I could try to dissolve the baking soda with water and make a paste of sorts, might create a smoother surface
