Yes, and when it is done that way it is genuinely unique, just like the real thing. I also assume that it would be easier to break off and chip the putty too, much like the real zimmerit did?

To be honest it sticks fairly well to plastic. It's possible to scrape it off again, but it usually takes a lot of effort. If the plastic piece in question is thin enough to be flexible, it's a bit easier. Probably not the case here

Super Philipp
It does look straight forward, just keep the blades wet, OK, check
You are right about "bought" zim looking too tidy
No excuses for not having a go, now to find something from the right period
Panzer I with zimmerit, I don't think so
Nice one Philipp

Re: Tamiya StuG IV
Thanks everyone Just give it a try with some scrap parts. It might be frustrating at first, but with a little practice you should soon get good results.
I had a small delay thanks to my little friends of the Rhinovirus family which are now thankfully in the process of being mercilessly exterminated, allowing me once again to concentrate on things for more than a few seconds....
Except for the lower hull and superstructure sides, the Zimmerit is mostly done now:

Philipp, that zimmerit looks really superb!
So the damned Rhinovirus has got you too. I been struggling with it for over a week. The over the counter cold and flu tablets couldn't knock it out, so it was on to some antibiotics for me. So many people are sick with it here

Re: Tamiya StuG IV
Thanks everyone
I've had that much-accursed cold for 1.5 weeks now. For the first week I felt fine except for the sneezing and coughing and last Thursday it finally knocked me down properly. Things have improved greatly today and I'm afraid I might be fit for work again on Monday

Re: Tamiya StuG IV
Exact same timing and symptoms as me I felt it coming on the week before last, maybe Thursday, couldn't shake the sinus. By Wednesday last week i was totally buggered and had Thursday and Friday off. Getting better just in time to go back to work tomorrow
