Well, I've got my subject ordered, now I just need to wait for it to show up. Here it is:

Image

It is from 1979, so, not as old as some of the others here, but, squarely within the designated time frame. Better than that, for purposes of this GB, it does have a connection to my modelling days of youth. It is not a kit I had in my younger days, but, my very good friend who was also a modeler did have and build it. I remember the link and length track, not that we knew what that was, gave him fits trying to get it together. (I am hoping the combination of internet wisdom and Tamiya Extra Thin Cement will help it go better for me.)

Anyway, it was an ebay purchase, so, hopefully it will be here sometime this week.

Hi chaps,

This is a totally awesome group build. Love the fond memories from childhood. Oh why did we have to grow up.

I know the old kits from this era have nothing on modern kits, but there is still a particular charm about them. I guess it is the fact that we grew up with them. I have to admit, the Tamiya box art on their Military Minatures series has always been awesome.

Seems to me most participants are submitting Tamiya kits, so i am going to join with a .............................Tamiya kit :P

One kit i remember as a kid is the old 25pdr Field Gun. Myself and a mate could not believe our eyes when we opened that box. Those figures were just so awesome! It was the pride and joy of our toy soldier collection

So, i am in with this 1976 masterpiece.....Image

Would have loved to join this group but unfortunately I have nothing that old in my stash. At that time, I built my kits straight from the box with no addition and they did stay long on the to-build list. Different times ;)

Congrats to Philipp for animating this subject :D :D

Cant remember quite so much traffic on Plastic armour for a long time.

This has clearly caught imaginations. Great to see so many threads and conversations...

The praise should go to John, who suggested this thing often enough :D

And our long lost brother from down under had his part in recent activities as well I guess

I see. I shall endeavour to keep the ball rolling :P

Rob is right though, this group build is generating a great vibe and enthusiasm. Everyone is just really enjoying the memories of our early modeling days.
