That looks like a impressive little kit. It appears to have a lot of nice detail coming right from the box.

  Sorry Greg. Sheer expediency. The Panzerart Canvas is not currently available and the Nebelwerfer will take quite some time. I wanted to join the Brethren ;)

Thanks to everyone else that's commented. Back after a week away to a a very short day  Most of which involved PE. It is a very detailed piece. Now finished :D

Fit was perfect throughout - it comes with 3 ammo boxes. I spent nearly 2 hours searching for the decals :x :x :x
The only upside of which is that my modeling space is
a) a lot tidier
b) I found a whole lot of other stuff

I had meant to continue painting the Otter and Chieftain today

The Loyd comes next.....

And so to primer

I started reading this recently on hols...

It's a fascinating account of the Wessex divisions experiences from D-Day onwards. There are no maps which is something of a set back and with no military experience I struggle with the acronyms, there is no key. I'm struck by just how savage the fighting was for the month following D-Day. The book is a reminder just how valuable mortars were (?are). Shame we don't see them better represented in modelling. The use of PIATs was also more widespread than I'd been lead to believe. and finally the scale of the invasion is brought home - Thousands of vehicles and troops - staggering really. The book has inspired me to build 43rd Division vehicles in the future whenever possible. Expect to see this Loyd Carrier suitably badged ;)

And so to the Carrier. Numerous mentions are made of them in the book towing 6 pounders so it's all very appropriate :ugeek:

And it's good to be back with a Bronco kit again :D

Image

1) Super instructions (Industry standard, IMHO)
2) Really nice detail
3) Delicate sprue gates!!

Possibly over-engineered and overly complicated but who's complaining :?:

And a very modest start ;)

I've lost track with how many builds you have going on. :D

Do you and Philipp have some sort of a competition going on :?: Who can have the most blogs.

  3 actually. And that's 2 too many. Blame the GB and me wanting to play with the Kool kids. It's causing me some continuity problems and at times it's beginning to feel like more work :|

So onwards.

I should at this point, readily and gratefully acknowledge how helpful Michael Roof's blog has been. He has done a superb Masterbuild and has highlighted a number of pitfalls in construction that I have happily avoided.

http://www.track-link.com/forums/site_blogs/22053/flat

Interestingly, his and one other are the only builds I can find on the web. I sometimes wonder what happens to all the bought models. Though pondering - I suppose part of the answer is that many modellers build through clubs rather than on sites.

The Bronoc parts are delicate and constuction really begins from first principles, bottom up as it were.

Overall - construction is very similar to the Riich Universal carrier, and in truth - the Loyd carrier was a low cost vehicle that used many of the UC parts to further reduce costs and increase serviceability. Unlike the Carrier there is greater potential for the engine to be seen.

Image

fitment of engines is rarely easy and this was no exception - I tried to "level" the engine to make it parallel with the chassis frame but in hindsight suspect that it should be angled  I'll know for the next build (there definitely will be a second) I can't stress enough how fine and delicate the parts and fit are and it's such a contrast with the Takom Chieftain which Gary is currently finding and struggling with :|

I like Bronco. Though this is NOT an easy Tamiya style build.

Mike Roof added a handbrake that Bronco have omitted. I'm going to be lazy and ignore it. It's not easily seen within the reference pics from examples within the "Capricorn Publications" reference book

Image

And I'm particularly pleased to hear this week that Bronco are re-releasing their Humber Light Scout car, which had become very hard to source. Thank you Bronco :D

I've decided that this model will be in Wessex division colours and will be SCC2 with a tarp camouflaged in SCC1

Thanks for looking

Rob
