Re: Sd.Kfz.11 (late) towing leFH 18
Rob, thanks for the suggestion, though that would assume I have WWII German items in my stash! Our of about 150 kits I have 6 -- two 88’s and Sd.Kfz.7, Pz 3, motorbike and sidecar and a Steyr… all for a planned DAK build!
Right, on to Step 4 which is fixing the shield to the gun and adding the final details (sighting, etc.). There is one delicate piece that needs some careful cutting to remove from the sprue without damaging it:
I used a razor saw to remove most of the sprue, along with the lovely detailed sighting mechanism
I first fixed all the moveable parts of the gun as we’ll be displaying statically, then moved on to adding all the bits. Assembly was a little tricky and I’m not happy with the result, but everything eventually went together and it doesn’t look to bad.
This will sit off to the side now as the next steps are on the frame. Will provide updates when I get there!

Hi Rob, many thanks! I'm not happy with it (I used too much glue to get some pieces to settle correctly) but on reflection the problems are not that noticeable, and weathering should address any biggies.
And thanks again for the 251 D suggestion - a friend of mine has some spare sets around so will be able to get some for the price of a pint or two!

Had a busy weekend so not much on the build front, but I did skip through the next 3 steps to assemble this:
A lot of tiny, fragile, detailed little pieces in this assembly, coupled with much swearing! There are some rough edges in there but they won't be seen once everything is assembled, painted and weathered.

Managed a little more work on the carriage during the week, with the stock and spades nearly done
The pioneer tools and distance markers are left off for ease of painting and there is still some tidy up to do on the spades, but otherwise we're nearly complete.

Just what I am waiting for Ian
Any complications with the construction so far?
I have the Aber upgrade set for the spades, though that is my masochistic side coming out as they do seem very complicated
But plenty of micro soldering required
Looks good, so far

Philipp, Steve, thanks! Yes, it is a great kit and not much to worry about. There is a deep join on the spades that needs to be filled and smoothed and that is my task today, but other than that it seems fine. Steve, you may have better luck with the PE on these parts!
