Sd.Kfz 251/1 towing leFH 18/40

At long last I also managed to join the GB! ;)

This build will be a Sd.Kfz.251/1 Ausf. C (the "standard" one without guns, mortars or assault bridges ;) ) built from the Orange Box 9135 Dragon release because I haven't built a couple of 251 Ausf. C recently  towing a leFH 18/40 (a modification of the leFH 18 and leFH 18m using the Pak 40 carriage with bigger wheels), AFVClub number 35089 and crewed by Master Box MB35137 sitting figures in M1940 uniforms, which, together with the 251 and the leFH 18/40, places this projected diorama firmly in a 1942 environment, I think artillery attached to armoured or motorized divisions during Case Blue would be appropriate.

Current basic resources ("everything else" is bound to pop up from my stash when needed, I just don't know yet just what it's going to be ;) ) =>

And since I can't just post kits in boxes (now wouldn't that be horrible  !?) I started the leFH 18/40.
It reminds me a lot of the last AFV Club artillery kit I did, a FlaK 18: really, really, really, tiny parts but with glorious fit and magnificent detail - all artillery kits should be like this :D .
The kit also comes with a turned barrel and turned recuperator  .

And since it all went together without a hitch, two hours later I'm already done with the barrel, shield and optics.. essentially everything above the carriage ;) .

Good to see you join in Raoul and you've come up with a great combination. :D I like that Howitzer and you are off to a flying start on the build too. :)

Cheers,
Vincent

Well started Sir :D

It makes me want to have a go too

I am really tempted and will need a break from the solder soon ;)

Another 251, you devil you

Any plans for a base and "story" with this one yet?

Thinking cap on ;)

Nice one

Thanks Vincent! :D

As for planing and story Steve: It'll be small diorama only this time, nothing like the last one I did here ;) . I think I can force the five crewmen into the 251, the driver will come from this set...guess who  . I will probably, as usual, include a cat somewhere... otherwise it will be southern Russia between the Donets and the Don with division artillery taking a break on the road to allow the driver to create a puddle of Germany east of the Donets...
I suppose a grey based vehicle with some sort of improvised camouflage in Afrikabraun would be appropriate with the gun in solid grey.

...oh the gun! The piece is done build-wise! And a delight to build it was! :D
