Sorry I'm late to the party

Love the little pop gun, and the limber is pretty good too ;)

I will go with the majority on the jeep, and make sure there is a sack of potatoes and a crate of Vodka in the back too 8-)

nice progress too Vincent

Thanks Steve. :) I really like the idea of the potatoes and Vodka in the back. :D Now where am I going to get those? Hmmm. :?

Construction is mostly complete so time for some paint. :D
First up I put some primer on, Vallejo Black and Light gray

For the Olive Drab, I used the AMMO Modulation set. The paint is nice and easy to use but I was disappointed with the highlight colours. The picture on the packet bears no resemblance to the actual colours in the pack. The lightest highlight shade is barely different from the previous colour, unfortunately. :(
Anyway, on with the show. ;)
Over the primer, I sprayed very light coats of the Dark Base. I gave the chassis and the underside of the body a light coat as nobody will see there and it will be covered with dirt anyway. However, inside the body I gave the floor a good covering.

Next, I used the Olive Drab Base. This colour is the one that anchors the highlight shades.......normally that is.

The Light Base colour is designed for the most exposed areas which in this case are the fenders and bonnet. I also gave the storage bins in the back a coat as well.

Finally, I added the light Highlights. This is where the lack of contrast was a real letdown. :( So much so that I forgot to take pics like the previous sets.
You can see how the "highlight" is basically the same shade as the previous coat. By the way, the Jeep isn't glued together here, it's just dry fitted.

I'm tempted to mix my own highlight and add that. Lots of detail painting to be done yet.
Thanks for watching.

Cheers,
Vincent

Hi Vincent

a few drops of light flesh should lighten it enough.

Just do swatch tests on a sheet of plastic card until you are happy there is enough contrast.

Maybe the bottles were wrongly labeled?

Steady progress Vincent :D

Time I did something soon

Damn you Vincent. Now that I have seen you paint this OD I want to get back to work on my Scout Car. Plus I have another project I really want to start on soon. :D I don't know what the hell I'm going to do.

Like Steve said a little flesh color will lighten things up a bit.

I Really like the paint. :D

Speaking of you Steve H. We have not seen much being built by you lately.

Great paint job regardless of the the highlights. I find that any modulation I achieve in the flesh rarely survives the camera pics :?

Maybe the labels were wrong Steve, maybe I didn't mix it well enough, I'm not sure. :?
I just know the results weren't what I expected. I'm leaning towards a few drops of yellow to give the colour some richness. ;)

Thanks Shawn...I think? I've let my Scout car fall behind too, along with the Panther. :( Any clues for this new project you've hinted at? ;)
