You certainly know how to make a silk purse from a sow's ear

Thanks Philipp.Philipp Gross wrote:Considering the age of that kit the result looks really good
Are these tyres really without profile?
Philipp
I think the tyres have too much bulge in the side wall. A cross ply tyre has a flatter sidewall, less bulge if you like. It looks taller because its skinnier. The tyres on my gun are too fat. I haven't even mentioned that there is no tread either

For those of you who like their silk purses green, this is for you
I used the Vallejo 4BO Modulation set for this stage. These sets are simple to use and the colours are pleasing to the eye. Notice I didn't say accurate because basically, I have no idea. It looks like I could have gone with more contrast on the shield though in the flesh it looks fine. I'll put it down to poor photo skills. I'll let it dry overnight and then paint the tyres. After that, I can start the weathering.
Thanks for following along guys.

A little late to the game here. Couple things to note, you can get a turned barrel as a replacement, which helps.. Those spoked wheels where undersized on mine and the gun was resting on the undercarriage, so I had to go with the alternate wheels that was provided in the kit. But looks like you were able to overcome that issue. And you have made those radials look much better, everything is looking great so far.
How about a Gaz67b or BA-64 pulling it.

Sorry, completely missed the paint.....well done!
I just found out the Dragon Pak 36 has an optional 45mm barrel to turn it into a Soviet gun. Might be an idea for the future....

Yep, I noticed that when I did some research on the 45mm version. GAZ type wheels were sometimes used from 1941-42 onwards, might be an option if you can't get spoked wheels.
