Thanks guys. Both kits are very good.

Yes, the base is definitely going to be big. I was thinking of doing a pontoon bridge section, but that might a bit much. We'll see.

Wow, been a long time since I posted anything. I got a little busy with moving.
I was working on the towing hitch ring on the gun’s towing dolly, trying to cut a slot to get it on the M4’s pintle, when it broke off. So, I drilled a hole in the end.

Next, I took some brass rod about the same diameter, formed it in to a ring around the pintle. This way, the ring will fit into the hole I drilled.

Next, I added some tarps around the breach, muzzle and stowage on the Long Tom.
As soon as I determined what to use for a base, I’ll hitch the two together and weather it further.

Thanks for looking.

The dirty old blanket wrapped around the breech is fantastic :D

Good job on fixing the broken tow ring. Stuff like that happens to me all the time...

Dirty old Blanket? Not exactly the impression I was looking for, but it'll do.

Hi Steve,

This is just excellent! Really like the extra details you are adding here. I have this kit and its little brother, the 8 inch, in the stash, so this blog is getting bookmarked for future reference.

The 'dirty blanket' is perfect, even if that's not what your interpretation was meant to. But it fits perfectly, in a war where the correct epuipment would not have been availailable, or lost, a blanket would have been a perfect improvisation the keep dirt off the breech.

I think this is your best work to date 8-)
Woody...

Trying hard to do some modeling!
