AFV Clubs 155mm Long Tom

Hi, I"m getting a late state in this campaign, but I thought I'd join in. I'll be working on AFV Club's Long Tom to pair up with the M4 Tractor I'm finishing up.

It's an old kit and I think it was one of the original kit runs. Lot's of flash, minor though.

The metal barrel doesn't fit quite right in the other two plastic pieces. I needed to shim the space between for a tight fit.

Here is the breech end. None of this will be visible as the gun will be in transport configuration so there will be canvas over the breech and barrel end.

And here is the gun cradle. Forgive me if I get the terms incorrect. The two halves of the cradle were slightly warped and needed some clamping to get them to fit properly.

Okay, back to the M4 for some more painting. Thanks for looking.

Nice choice! We really don't see too many of these getting build.

Don't worry about being late, the GB runs all year :)

THanks.

I'm not a particular fan of towed artillery, but these big guns pique my interest somewhat.
I'd love to see a 240mm howitzer or an 8 in gun in plastic someday.

Okay, I think this is called the trunnion. Feel free to correct me, please.

The two trail arms...

and the lower carriage.

Generally, the fit was good. Some light flash. My biggest complaint with the kit is the large sprue attachment points on some small, thin parts.

Question for anyone who can answer. Did this gun/carriage have air brakes? The M4 Tractor had two pneumatic fittings on the back.

I found this page: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ ... m2-155.htm
Air brakes are provided for use during transit, and hand brakes are applied on the front bogie wheels when the weapon is parked.
Excellent work so far :)

That's coming along rather nicely Steve. :) I've got one of these too so I'll follow along to see how it goes together. ;)
