The plaster rocks are great Phil, have you thought about a short photo tutorial in the tips section?

Thanks again Adam
Not sure if I really need to do a SBS, it's extremely simple. Just mix up the plaster in a container of choice, add some pigments, let it dry and then crumble the result into suitably sized chunks. That's really all there is to it.

I'll give it a go on my next build. Just realized how important it is to dye the base product (in my case Das) as it shows through the paint if it cracks!

As a final step I added a layer of pigments onto the sand. That should hide any problems?

Thanks Adam
I reworked the figure a little, still not perfect but at least no really obvious problems anymore...at least none you can see with bare eyes, of course the camera is less merciful...

The arch nemesis of the armour modeler
Good Looking scenario Philipp
Figures are not easy and heads are a challenge, but Herman's cousin looks OK, he really completes the scenario
Very nice one Philipp

Thank you Steve
Let's call him Herbert
The face was almost easier to get "right" than the uniform....not that it would look that way on the photos
Time to get better with that before I start on the dioramas that need a lot more of them

The build is done, the pictures are done too and float down to NZ as I write this. A little preview:
I don't think this kit really needs a summary - it's Tamiya, it's still great and it was a lot of fun.
Thanks everyone who rode along, see you on the next build
