Looking forward to this project Rod! I do like the looks of that Tamiya kit, I hope the sand bags fit it.

Well the turret Sandbags don't fit on either all that great   . The fit is better on the Dragon kit but I the Sand Bag kit it was designed for a T-23 turret will the bulge on the front for the radio mount and the large split loaders hatch. Commander's side fits great and it would only take a little bit of work to modify the sand bags to fill in the gap were the radio bulge would be. The Dragon Kit does include both styles but the E8 in the photo has no bulge and the oval loaders hatch.

It would take much more work to modify it to fit the Asuka kit. There is good and bad with both of these kits (I don't think there is a perfect Sherman or any other kit for that matter). So I'll start on the Dragon kit.

Regards,
Rod

Hi John,

Is that antenna pot from TMD or one of your creations? Looks great so far.

Some more progress on the turret. I'm getting tired of these old Dragon kits having no crew periscopes. The kit includes a full set of clear plastic periscopes so I put these to use. The protective cover on the gunner's periscope was missing (and is missing on all large hatch 75mm M4s by Dragon) so I fashioned something vaguely resembling it from PE scraps and plastic sheet.

I'll keep the hatches open this time, plenty of US tankers around to fill them. :)

The turned brass antenna socket is made by Panzer Art. Naturally US tanks carried US radios, so it's accurate for this particular Firefly.

A few more bits and pieces left to add and then I might continue with the hull.
