Wow

What a treat for this cold, frosting morning :D

Excellent finish Rob, she really does look the part,

Inspiring too, I think I will have to crack the ice and find my GB builds in the garage today, but not yet, its only -2C, 28F for the colonials

Excellent one :D

Sorry that it has been a while since I have posted an update.

I have finally finished construction and I am ready to start getting this thing ready for paint.

Next time I am going to be very careful about taking on too much PE as it kind of turned me off. I know I just need to practice and I will come to love it, but until then more plastic less brass for me.

Anyway here it is before I start disassembling it again.

After I get it apart I am going to try Vallejo red primer on it to see how it works.

Thanks for looking
Dennis

One of my Christmas gifts was seasons 1-6 of Castle and Mrs. Treadhead and I have been having a nightly Castlethon that has prevented me from building. However, I buckled down this weekend and almost have the Stug ready for paint. The TAHK DShK was broken in two places but I was able to repair it. I have only the shield to finish and I can get paint added to it. The Fruil track are also done.

Rob, the paint looks sensational. Colours and pattern are spot on! :D

Dennis, your Panzer 111 looks great. Have fun with the paint. :)

Mark, that DShK is going to look very interesting sitting on your Stug. Nice. :)

Cheers,
Vincent

Thanks Vincent.

And Congrats to Dennis and Mark for very neat looking builds - the pace is definitely hotting up

And to a pin wash, and chipping with my preferred method of sponge dabbing

Pigments to the track region

And the Schurzen

And to the crux move - oils. They make such a huge difference and really reduce the contrast and garishness of the colours

It's taken me 3 -4 hours to "oil" the vehicle

Well a miracle has happened and I have put some paint to plastic. I was anxious to try out my new bottle of Vallejo Acrylic primer so I busted out the AK-47 of airbrushes, the Pasche Model H.

I have more expensive airbrushes but I find this is the best for putting down a very thin, consistent layer with almost zero tip drying. I love this thing.

I have heard that some have had trouble with the finish when working with this primer but I saw Rob's video on how to use it and thought I would give it a try. I have to say that I got a very smooth finish and I am happy with it.

I decided to try the turret first (I knocked a tool clip off the hull)

The armor skirts are made out of aluminum and I wasn't sure how it would take.

I need not have worried.

Dennis and Rob,
Steps ahead of me and looking great! Won't probably touch the Stug until Saturday again. We still have season 5 & 6 to watch.
