Trumpeter 12.8cm Kanone

Post by Vincent Power »

Part of my NY resolution was to build more kits than I buy. Having hit a road block on the Scout Car I glanced at the Shelf of Doom and thought I would try finishing this.

This huge AT weapon has always appealed to me and I was really happy to pick it up for a song last year. :) Unfortunately the kit is plagued by over engineering and poor moulding meaning I'm cleaning up every piece. This is tedious to say the least and was one of the reasons I stopped it. I also forgot to take in progress pics. :? Anyway, after a few deep breaths I plunged in again and this is where I'm up to now.

I started some painting as well. I'm not sure where I'm going with it yet but something will turn up.

I'm happy with the wheels so far.

Hopefully more later.......fingers crossed ;)

Very nice :D

I have the other 12.8 cm gun by Trumpeter, and it's been waiting for some paint for years. So don't be surprised if a second blog appears shortly

O'hh, Nice one Vincent

I have a Great Wall one of these with extras, I got it from MA and Vinnie-bay

What colour did you use on the wheels, it looks just right for something I am planning ;)

It seems to be something of a theme with trumpeter?

The Sd Kfz 7 late I have on the bench used about 50+ parts when dragon do the chassis as a single piece :?

Clean up is a pig, but I follow "best practice" and clean of all the flash and sink marks, where ever they are :?

Its my OCD

Great progress Vincent for a Queen too, :D

Regards

Thanks Steve. :) I believe the Great Wall kits are quite good. My brother built one and he enjoyed it. It's a shame that there is so much to clean up with this kit though. The other issue is the number of parts. I think there is too much emphasis on high parts count in kits these days, but that's a topic for another day. ;)

The paint is AK Dunkelgelb base, then AK Dunkelgelb light base, then a final mist on the high spots with AK Dunkelgelb highlights. I did hit the low spots with black before I started on the Dunkelgelb. Hope that helps with your project. :)

Cheers,
Vincent

Thanks Vlad. I'm glad to finally have the thing built. :) The paint will be fun though I'm not sure what I'm doing with it yet. ;)
