Or not wet enough. I probably didn't use enough chipping fluid. It says 2-3 thin layers on the bottle, but since it came out of the airbrush as thick blobs I thought that would be more than enough...

German cuisine provides a possible solution

In theory the base colour should be waterproof. :?

Nope, the potato salad has failed me too. While the hull might have been salageable the turret is a lost cause since almost none of the whitewash comes off. I definitely should have used way more chipping fluid. Unless someone has a better idea I'll give it a bath in oven cleaner tomorrow and start painting anew.

Hi Philipp

I don't know if I have caught you in time, but if you chip with neat Iso-alcohol it will take anything off,
so it will work just like water over hairspray, and allow you to guide the chipping rather than a full strip!
Not that I claim any ownership of this technique, its on the winter camo DVD from AK

HTH's?

Thank you Steve! I haven't stripped it yet, I'll give it a try once I get back home this evening.

Nope, didn't work. It turned the entire paint into a muddy white-green-black something. Thanks anyway, it was worth a try. Oven cleaner, here we go....

The good thing about oven cleaner is, it really only takes off acrylics. So it's all back to shiny smoooth black primer now :D

Starting over with the paint gave me an opportunity to fix some small problems: I added the 2 inch smoke mortar including cap and chain and also scraped off the dust cover mounts. The turret as it comes in the kit is more appropriate for Korea, while my tank is a late 1944 model.
