Re: Revell Land Rover Series 3 (109"/LWB)"
The base is going to be simple - recycled from some past project that failed to make it.
I'm returning to the rug for the long grass effect. It never looks promising
I cut a couple of narrow strips - trimmed the hairs in a fairly random manner and then dunked in very dilute Vallejo green paint and patted it dry with a kitchen towel
I used a toothbrush to then "comb" the hairs so that they didn't dry stuck together. All very messy and "Blue Peter"
Then a Polyfilla/PVA/sand/pigment mixture trowelled to the base, with shrubs etc added whilst it was all still wet
The Index photo shows the Landie with a camo net on the canvas roof. Would have thought it was too heavy, but just goes to show....
I had some pre-dyed net which is just Gauze bandage. For Brit army camo nets - I believe the trick is to add tea leaves .....so that's a tea bag on the right
PVA white glue (?Elmer's in the colonies) is added and diluted with water
Dunk the net in and sprinkle liberally with dry tea leaves
Et voila...(Je pense )
I finished by "dribbling" some dilute Vallejo greens onto the wet netting.

The long grass looks great to me. I'll have to have a look at this method as I've never tried it.
If I had a feedback, it seems too much with the deep green. Here in the colonies, grasses tend to have more yellow and brown than might be expected by those who are held Prisoner Of Mother England. you should be able to airbrush the bases and lower end of the tall grass with a few spots of yellow/brown here and there. German dunkelgelb is actually an excellent tone for dead grass.
How does the cargo net look now that it's dry? A bit of dry brushing should bring out a lot of detail so long as you can avoid knocking loose the leaves.

Primer....
And Brit Green (Thanks Chris )
And BTW - I'm spraying Vallejo with their "Flow Improver" Which I have to say makes a big (beneficial) difference. Recommended
And the base finished off....
The aim was to replicate the paths on Salisbury Plain. Summer dry and dusty.

The dried mud is Perfect. Too bad to put a truck over it. The grass looks better with the subtle yellows addd here and there.

Hi Rob
Great work on the base, it looks so realistic
Whose shrubs and bits did you use?
How much flow enhancer did you use?
It is just what I could do with for my GB, and a real motivator to get started on the base
The Landy looks good too, I;'ll take yours and Chris's word the colour is correct, outside of my knowledge but it does look good
Great camo net too, teal leaves, who would have thought it
Very nice work

I'll just be so free and take some notes on how you built the base (for my big 251 base ) - it turned out really nice, especially the "grass" .

Thanks Guys - appreciate++
@ Steve Steve The Airbrush Flow Improver gets added one drop to every 10 of paint AS WELL as the paint thinner.
The Shrubs are Mini-natur with some Royal Model etched metal ferns in there
