Intriguing choice of subject Rob! :D

Ah...modern vehicles: when you have reference that are not in black and white and/or from some propaganda film  .
Will you include some planted flag markers an a little base?

Will be another great build Rob. I wish the bug would bite me  Complete lack of any motivation. I guess this will be another GB build not finished by the deadline. I'm realizing GB are not for me. I just can't handle all the pressure to get something done within a certain time frame. 8-)

I have always been like this though. I hear guys at my model club talking about getting something done in time for a show. I never understood that myself. If I have a build completed for a show I will take it. If I don't then that's just fine with me. No offense to anyone one who fits into the category above :D :D Just build to what ever degree makes you happy. That's all that matters.

Thanks Guys :)

Shawn - don't sweat it - let it come to you. This is meant to be a decompressive hobby - it shouldn't be adding to the angst :|

I'm lucky because these modern Soviet/Russian Trumpeter offerings have swept me away at the moment :P Last summer I turned to marine subjects for a short while. The mojo willreturn - the force is strong within you - your improvt trajectory has been stratospheric. Anyway why not build a wingey thing :?: - alluding to your other thread - just use any panel line wash you have. I'm going to soon

So onwards...
Fenders and transmission are assembled

Fit is very good.

The internal water duct assembles thus

Image

The rear bulkhead needed quite a lot of filing to fit - easily done

Image

And sits snugly within the hull tub

Image

The sides attach without drama and the front quarter pieces fit OKish

Image

Image

The left will need a little bit of filler - Hey Ho

Image

Image

Most importantly the top hull "mates" very neatly :P

I am really getting to like Trumpeter kits :D

I'm conscious that others outside of the site read these blogs as I do on other sites. To check out how a model builds etc

BUILD WARNING :!: :!:

In hindsight it has already been identified....

http://www.panzer-modell.de/ausgepackt/ ... r/5513.htm

The Wrong upper hull is supplied

The instructions show this....

Image

Sadly you are provided with this...

Image

Anyone spot the difference?
Yup - No hinges and a completely different layout

Image

The highlighted areas show where filling will n=be needed and adding hinges, which aren't supplied. The filling I can live with :|

All very disapointing set against the rest of the kit which otherwise I was going to pronounce a gem. I've emailed Trumpeter though don't expect much redress. Notably the upper hull appears on their web site so this is clearly a systemic oversight

ET Models at least provide a lazy remedy. (Scratching the hinges wouldn't be completely impractical)

Image

Shame really

I'll put this to one side as I wait for the ET models set to come from China - it's hard stuff to get hold of

Sad to read Trumpeter goofed that roof. The BRDM-2s have got two different roof layout during their service time. As the one you build is an early one, it should have the early roof. I guess Trumpeter simplified their family of BRDM-2 based vehicles by giving only one roof option.

Most of the time we just get used to the instructions being incorrect. This takes it to a whole new level

Looks like Trumpeter has learned from the best.... Some of the last few Dragon kits had a reputation for wrong or missing parts.

Olivier - I think you have it correct. A little cynical.

I've heard nothing from Trumpeter and don't really expect to. It's a shame because it seems otherwise an excellent offering
Still waiting for the PE set but I've begun the filling

Rob,

that's really disappointing.

If you look at the ET picture I think that raised cover in the middle that you have shouldn't be there but a simple flat panel instead which makes things even worse.
