Hi Shawn

That's a damned nuisance  .

In truth I doubt that it's the Ammo paints - I luv em and never had any problems (but have chucked away a few AK paints)

For it to have lifted - the plastic surfce may have been greasy meaning the paint didn't adhere. Did you prime :?: :?
The other explanation is that the Vallejo satin wasn't thick enough and the whitespirit has penetrated through :?: :?:

As to Future/Klear, know what you mean though I never seem to get a very glossy finish with mine. The option is to add small amounts of Tamiya flat (as per figure painting)

And finally - why don't you roll with it and use the sponge chipping technique over the lifted paint to replicate vehicle wear - with red primer or panzer grey , green grey etc :?: :?:

Either way - keep it coming - it's a cracking job

Round three in progress with a heavier application of Satin. We will see how it goes. :o

I never thought about some Tamiya flat with Klear.

As promised some progress.
Truth be know I have been working the Drilling itself for sometime but it has been a PITA.

I have got so frustrated with what ever progress I did make there was no motivation to take any pics. I just had to walk away from the bench. :o This has to be one of the most complicated things I have built to date. It has taken be about 4-5 sessions to get to this point including about 6 hours yesterday.

Ammo belts in plastic that you have to bend. Really. Even heated them up with water and they still broke.

The easiest part so far has been the PE shields from Eduard.

But here is where I stand.

I can imagine how something like this goes together....

Still, great work...I'm sure it'll pay off in the end!

Looks great from here and you are not the first Shawn. Others in distant blogs have written similarly re the ammo belts and the difficulty of getting these to all fit.

Keep it coming OR go and build something easy and put this to one side for now :?:

Looking great... but what's the problem with every gun in DML 251 kits?
I just had to walk away from the bench. :o This has to be one of the most complicated things I have built to date.
The recent Pak36 was horrible to build and I had very similar emotions... and the Pak40 I did a couple of years back for the 251/22 didn't really have any desire to fit on it's pedestal...
...DML 251s and their guns... ;)

Best regards

Rob
Thanks guys.

I will not give up on this. I need to at least finish the vehicle before the GB ends. The base or figures wont be done but they don't have to be to get credit for the GB. I need to al least complete one GB.

I'm hoping to get some more done later today.

Over the last few days I have been spending alot of time on this trying to get it done by 9-11. For us folks in the US that is a awful date to have a deadline on  . I think it needs to be extended by one week. :D

Using all Acrylics I have weathered the interior. Will add dust and dirt later. Can anyone tell me if that thing I painted red is a Fire Extinguisher and what color it is supposed to be whatever it is :?: :?: I don't like the red and will most likely repaint it.

Image

I applied some texture for mud and dirt before I attached the road wheels. This will all still be primed and painted.

I hate trying to get road wheel level so this is how I did it this time and it worked like a treat. A couple pieces of wood and two clamps.

Image

Despite the trouble I had with the weapon system the top hull fit like a glove requiring very little if any filler. :D :D The only trouble I really had is the storage compartment on the right side did not fit really well in the back. Just a few more things hear and there and the build will be complete.

Very nice Shawn! :D
I'm especially impressed with the road wheels - it didn't bother me because everything would be fully mudded anyway, but here is a solution I really need to write down - thanks  .
It's also nice to hear someone had less trouble than Philipp and me with the hull fit   !
